Got a mobo of jes a while ago (wrong one i must add) pc had been used for about a week maybe two and the mobo died. This is my brothers pc so nothing to stressfull done to it to make it die.
He was getting random reboots at first and then it just died, wouldn't boot with diff ram, gfx, psu.
Got repaired (so they say) and recieved board last friday, pc builth sunday now today he was home and said it was dead again!
What options do i have? Can he demand a new mobo, refund?
Should he get a new one and make them pay for it?
Hope there's someone who can help, from experience perhaps or recomendations.

    Jozi

Hmm Perhaps its a faulty PSU? If not make sure the Chip is placed correctly in the board. I had this prob thinking it was the PSU. It was actually that one of the clips on the heatsink wasn't inplace correctly. And i actually put it on faulty twice so just maybe that might be prob. But id go with PSU first

    Cheers for fast reply!
So what do you mean, i should use my psu in his pc to see does it work?
It was a brand new psu he got, be-quiet brand with high wattage.
I acctually did stress test it when it was crashing and it was fine for an hours, voltages stayed stable to troughout.

Actually I just re-read your post now and you said you already tried another PSU. Hmm somethings definetely not right if another Mobo is gone. Did you try another Processer?

Yeah tried that to, i think it might still be in it actually.
Cheers for fast reply, keep them coming

Well I would test out the new Mobo with completely new components. Graphics, RAM, PSU and processor. No more and see if it boots. If not i would send back the board and get a replacement. I don't know what else it could be if you've tried changing all the components. If the board goes again, then obviously somethings causing it. Perhaps the powersupply could be blowing the board? I amn't quite sure but id get a replacement of the board if it won't boot with different components

I'll try that over the weekend.
Just wondering, the little square 4 pin plug do you have to plug that into the mobo or is it optional?

From the PSU? Yeah thats for P4 boards. It needs to be plugged into certain mobos that take it. AFAIK

That sounds like the power feed for the Cpu - Is there power going to the motherboard normally there should be a green led on it somewere showing power is on -

What type of Mobo is it

    It works Again?
I put in a different gfx card and it was fine, then his back in and it worked?
The bracket is slightly bent but i couldn't really see that as being a major problem.
Anyway thanks for all the replies (and sorry for wasting your time, boards space)

im gonna waste more space by saying, its probably was that the graphics card wasn't sitting correctly in the agp slot. This was a common thing i done when building pc's before. Didn't apply enough force done. anyhow glad its working now. later

And it doesn't work anymore, since about sunday so 1 week after getting the rma'd mobo back.
Its deffinatly to do with gfx, tried different one to. There seems to be bad contact between the agp slot and the gfx card. I got it to work once or twice by holding the gfx card up abit but after a few times trying the monitor came on but wasn't displaying anything anymore.
So its going back or in the bin, pity really for a mobo from a well known manufacturer ie abit.
