    Anybody here work in PR?

I'm thinking of doing an MA in PR next year. I think I know what it involves but I'm not too sure.

What kind of tasks does your job involve and what is a typical day like for you?

I doubt that every PR job is the same but I would like some sort of an idea.

    Hi,

I'm a second year student in the Dip. in PR course run by the Irish Academy www.irishacademy.com and it varies depending on what sector you go into (financial, sport, voluntary, charity etc.)

As a general guideline these are the main areas:

    Dealing with the Media
    Preparing Feature Articles
    Photography
    Press Conferences
    Media Events
    Interviews
    Use of Radio and TV
    Budgeting
    Legal Environment (Defamation etc)
    Print and Design
    Communications
    Press Releases

Some people think that if you are 'good with people' then you should do PR. You have to be good with people to do any job. PR can involve long hours, and tight deadlines. If you thrive on this then give it a shot, otherwise maybe the introduction to PR course or the certificate course might give you a broad oversight of whats involved.
