Wireless between 2 houses

Is there anything that I can buy for no more than a few hundred euro that will allow me to share a broadband connection between 2 houses that are about 400 meters apart. I plan to set up a wireless lan in the house anyway but I would imagine that wouldn't have the power to cover those distances.

I am new to this so any help would be appreciated.

Well depending on what hardware you have at each end

nd assuming that there is 'line of site' between the 2 locations

then something like this at each end is about as cheap

    as it could be done

simply plug the usb cable into a pc at each end and set

    up an ad hoc network.

I like the sound of that. I presume these would be easy to install, if everything comes in the the box that would be a great solution.

If you can afford an AP get it - ah hoc links are the work of satan - you will never get a third PC working...

Most AP's allow an external antenna or you can use thin foil to focus the signal to go further.

you can use thin foil to focus the signal to go further.

Hi, please could you give more detail about that? Do you mean use thin foil to bounce or direct the signal?
