    before i closed one of my site a while back i backed up the database,

    I'm starting it up again and i have no idea how to install the old database into the new forums.

    anyone how to do it ?

    i have the .sql file ,

    Upload the forum files to your webspace. Upload the database files to your mysql server. Link them both (I assume it's done in the vbulletin install process... I'm only familiar with phpbb)

    i was sitting downstiars think ing how the hell am i going to do this and i remembers PhPMy Admin, so i'm in the middle of trying that,

    my old database is aboe 20 MB. so it's taking a while

    Doing it via phpmyadmin you may get timeouts due to the size of the file.
    It might be easier to get your host to do it for you

    Still uploading it now. no timeouts yet, still about 5 minutes left i'd say,
