    Upgrading the firmware of the DVDRW may solve the problem. Otherwise buy compatable discs.

    aren't they been detected in the drive or aren't you burning successfully?
    If the latter, then try burning at 1x - 4x speed.
    otherwise, don't see why it shouldn't work

    its not detecting them..i gave one to my mate and it worked for him..bit pissed off about it

    As said. First thing I'd do is update the firmware from here. Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter or you may end up with a dead drive.

    I have the nec 3500 and i have had no problems with the blank dvd's i got "Datawrite". You might need to do that flash as the other poster pointed out. I have not had to do it and would not like to try it either.
