most games when they hit "gold status" they get leaked.

    halo 2 is available
    GTA:SA is available

half life2 will be available in whole soon aswell.

once a game goes into mass production you get an employee (from the disc maker place) sneeking out a copy and then it's up on the net.

the problem is now with these highly anticipated games GTA:SA, Halo2, halflife2

they seem to make the news more often

Was bound to happen. The temptation of the dark force will be strong if i don't get a copy on release day but I think i'll survive.

    too much hassle...downloading, chipping...meh

    *waits until 29th*

I want to get GTA on the GBA this friday, that should keep me busy :D

Forgot about the new 2D GTA for the GBA. Well if I can't get GTA on the 29th the GBA version will more than do me for a week.

    heh heh

Its the US version thats out and with every major leak making big news, i think its there to heighten the issue to parnets and people who pay the bills.

Odd thing is in US people are mostly scared to download anything as they do get screwed over it.

Dose anyone know its release date on PC and if the PC version has been leaked yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,225 ✭✭✭Ciaran500

The PC version hasn't been made yet.

Normally the PC version releases around April.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,403 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

    There is a solution. Buy a PS2.

And play it at less than 1fps. I think not. And thats the best case scenario. I doubt theres a PS2 emulator that will even run it.

Rockstar has responded to the leak with the following statement: "Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive Software are aware that an illegally obtained version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and images from the game and manual have been posted to various sites."

"The proper authorities are investigating the theft and are continuing to investigate all possible leads to ensure there is no further dissemination of our creative content. Downloading, possession and distribution of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, including making the game available on the Internet, is theft."

"We take the theft of our intellectual property very seriously and we are and will continue to diligently and aggressively pursue this matter. If anyone finds information on websites with links to unauthorised downloads, information, scans or videos, please contact us at piracy@rockstargames.com."

played it last night for a bit:

camera's a bit strange after playing the PC version of vice city for so long.

graphics are the same really, ok.

    world looks huge.

nice addition of stats and uprgades. haircuts. running keeps you slim, eating makes you fat. like morrowind, the more you use a skill the more it improves.

    cars seems faster.

real ghetto feel and atmosphere, very L.A.

all i can think of at the moment...
also, i will be buying the game when it comes out.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,282 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

if i had broadband and a chipped Ps2, i'd download it. but i'd still buy it on friday.

also, is it actually 3 times as big as Vice City.

With 3 cities (each meant to be the same size as vice city) looks like 3 times the size as VC plus all the country-roads in between!!

Is it true that its a dual-layer dvd?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,225 ✭✭✭Ciaran500

The images are still smaller than a standard dvd (4.7gb)

its hard to tell but that sounds about right, at least twice the size anyway.

the map is excellent. allows you to zoom in and out etc but much more detail.

the fps seems crap to me though. maybe its because i'm more used to the vice city at 60fps. the ps2 doesn't seem to handle the game brilliantly and can get a bit sluggish.

think i can just about bear to wait until the pc version is released now

Plenty of low brow rappers but some great ones in there as well. Great to see Sammy, Ice T (who if you look at Law & Order SVU is quite a good actor), Axl Rose and Chuck D in there.

Younger siblings are there to be bullied. Make use of them before they get bigger than you like my younger brother.

The leak sounds like there something missing, like half the game. It coming out on a dual layer dvd so size-wise it should be bigger than 4.7gb at the minimum. An example was Star Ocean 3 which is also a dual layer game but comes in at a whopping 8+gbs. Wouldn't suprise me to see a second dvd SA release or else one of the illegal copys suddenly stop working half-way through the game...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,441 ✭✭✭✭jesus_thats_gre

Seemingly it has absolutely everything in tact..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,225 ✭✭✭Ciaran500

Where did you hear its coming out on a DVD9?

The images I've seen were about 2.5gb and I've been told its the full game with nothing missing.

rockstar mentioned that they had too much material to fit on a single layer disc... that could have just been them talking **** though

It been in the GTA feature list for a while was also mentioned on eurogamer a few months back linky, there more info on it through googling as well, though i'm not sure if they've changed there minds in the mean time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,496 ✭✭✭quarryman

    rarred its 2.5
    unrarred its 4.6

i've been playing it for hours and haven't found "half the game missing" yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,839 ✭✭✭balkieb2002

as i said i don't know as i don't have the game, only saying what r* had said before. If it is only one dvd then great compression for that size of a game to fit on one disk.

The game is indeed FULL and the exact USA retail release. Im 78 percent through the game and have to say although at times the ps2 really struggles to keep up with whats going on the game completely KICKS ASS. Really takes the series to a whole new level. You guys wont be disappointed.

Soundtrack owns too, especially Rage against the machine - Killing in the name of. SWEET

Seemingly the music has been compressed down and this allows the image to be only 4.6gb in size..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,420 ✭✭✭WellyJ

Any compression was done by Rockstar themselves, the release is the exact one thats available from tuesday in the USA. Its 4,394,304KB and fits perfectly on a DVD5/DVDR. Thr dvd9 rumours are completely unfounded trust me.
