I just received notification that my sky subscription will increase to 41 Pounds next month! They go on to explain that this is to bring me in line with what UK customers are paying for the service! What I want to know is, how come I don't get the same service as the UK if I am paying for it confused.gif . Open... does not relate to ROI at all! I can't receive any of my terrestrial channels or theirs (except BBC 1 & 2). And has anyone tried to subscribe to Film Four???? Then I discover that their new Sky+ service will launch in the UK later this summer but no date is decided for release in ROI frown.gif

In fairness I wouldn't consider it a total rip off. We don't get te same serives as the UK, but there is some excellent programming on. The rugby coverage for instance is excellent.

    Sky digital ownz jo0.
I have seen Chorus Analogue/Digital and it's far superior.
The price rise has being coming for a while.
do you know how much Sky lost launching the digital service???, it was like £500 Million irish @ this time 99 and they are only just starting to recoup losses

Be happy, Sky Digi is great.

I'd expect it to be one of many price hikes. It's common for them to offer the service at an intially low price then raise it when you're used to the service. God help us if they achieve a monopoly. Never thought I'd be cheering the BBC smile.gif

Except that digital has been available since 98.
But the offer of "free reciever equipment" was pretty much a relaunch of Sky Digital.

    You Sheep!

A Co. gives a service at a discount to get you hooked, then increases the price and you think it OK 'cos the service is great.

I might understand it if you got the box + dish for nothing but I paid the £300 (early adopter syndrome) and now face a 70% price hike. There is no recognition of the fact that I am not one of the 1000s that got the stuff for nought.

Additionally, the service is a big jump on analogue in terms of choice but little else. Nicam stereo in analogue sounds a whole lot better than Sky CD quality stereo.

Picture quality on Satellite was always great and beats the digital artefacts frequently present on Sky digital.

I am dumping Sky and going with NTL.

Prices will remain 'sky' high if you don't object to extorionate price hikes.
