Yes, I know this really belongs in the work forum but I can't access it
    for some reason.

Arial and TNR are pretty damn boring so I was wondering what font YOU use on your CV?

I used Verdana in mine and i got a job recently.

    It's clear and easily read

Depends on what you're going for I guess. If I was an employer, someone would lose huge points in my eyes if their CV was laid out in anything but TNR, Arial or Tahoma. (edit: or Verdana, or pretty much anything plain)

    Maybe that's just me.

Actually, I will give someone €10 to turn up at a job interview with this font on their CV.

    :D

Would make you look psyhcotic that!.....Doubt u'd even get an interview if you sent in your C.v laid out like that!

I'm quite partial to Arial. It may be boring, but it's easy to read, stylish, simple, and pretty.

I second that Seamus. €10 from me aswell :)

Give me a job (Comic Sans)
Give me a job (Courier New)
    Give me a job (Garamond)
    Give me a job (Impact)
Give me a job (Palatino Linotype)
    Give me a job (Tahoma)
Give me a job (Time New Roman)

Arial 12 is the best to use on a CV.
I've worked in Admin for over 13 yrs and any CV's that came into any of the places that I worked in that were difficult to read, too colourful, font was too small or had too many pages went straight into the bin.

I even worked in a place and the Director of the company wanted me to keep the envelopes of the applications with the letters and CVs. On a certain day he would decide that he didn't like blue ink or black ink (depending on which pile had the most in it) and all the applications that had that colour ink on the envelope got put in the bin without even being read!!!

A prospective employer wants something thats not too cluttered and extremely easy to scan through.
Very few employers actually read these things properly, so make it as easy as possible to read.

I'm with Koneko on this one. Arial is an excellent font for a CV and it's what I use (generally at size 10).

I really dislike Times New Roman and avoid it whenever possible. I wouldn't use Verdana on a CV purely because it is the defacto web font and I spend enough time doing web work as it is.

I use verdana on all my documents now.. Think it looks real nice in size 9 or 10

Please, someone send me (a link to) that crayon font. I have to do a job for a customer who won't send me the fonts they need and I have to guess what to replace it with.

I use comic sans MS on my CV btw, and I don't see how it makes a difference when aplying for a job. Actually, not 100% true, if they consider the font on your CV to be important, it's not a company I want to work for.

If submitting a CV by e-mail why not use Wingdings? If they can't figure out how to make it readable they're probably not the right company for you anyway.

I agree with your dislike of TNR. Not at all clear.

I never noticed that verdana was the web font. Learn sommething new everyday :)

I think it is a toss up between Arial or Verdana. Both are very clear.

Urgh, Times New Roman makes baby jesus cry. Something about that font just SCREAMS "I couldn't be bothered to change this font, it's the default". It really is quite awful.

    There's a default web font?

Verdana 10 or 11 all the way.
Like my lucky knickers, it never fails.....

    ;)

No but most sites will specify Verdana, Helvetica and then a generic font family (generally sans-serif).

Which begs the questions: "Fails to do what"?" and "What do you usually interview for?" :D
