Second that. So easy to record stuff.
Pausing live TV is great for "did you see that?" and "WHAT did he say?" situations.

    Absolutely brilliant piece of kit.

I dont have a VCR as part of my main A/V setup anymore. Not only is the record easy to use the "pause live tv" and "instand rewind" functions are excellent.

There's a newer version of the hardware being released soon I gather so I'd wait until thats available before buying. Its called Sky+ 160. It has 4 times the current storage capacity. This is alot more useful and was the reason I steered clear of the current version.

The 160gb box has been launched in the UK and sell for GBP399. No word when it will be launched here or the price but it will probably be around the EUR600 mark going by the uk price.

    40 gigs does me fine.

When you record, it doesn't record the red button aswell does it?
I hate that stupid red button.

    No red buttons are recorded.

An considering you can buy the 40GB version for €199 and buy a 160GB Hard Drvive for around €130, you'd be better off upgrading the 40GB version yourself and save at least €200, depending on the price of the new box.

I wouldnt even attempt to upgrade it myself even with the step by step guide available. :)

If anything went wrong I would be left with a useless digibox and an invalidated warranty.

Mines will be out of warranty in February. I will be upgrading mine then.

Another good thing is that subtitles are also recorded, handy if you need them.

Am I right in saying you can only record channels that are on the EPG? So, if you set up the extra BBC channels on the Other Channels bit, you can't then record them with Sky+?

    Ciarán.

you would be right! Only EPG channels can be recorded which is a pity but everything else it can do more than makes up for this!

It will totally change the way you watch TV. Since I got mine I have hardly bothered watching any live TV except for matchs. I set up season linls for all my favourite shows and then watch them afterwards fast forwarding through ads. A typical one hour show is probably only 42 minutes long.

    I have two questions

Is it better so to have a Sky + box than those new dvd recorders that are out? I guess there would be better features with the sky+ like series links etc.

I read that with the Sky+ box you can record two separate programs and watch one at the same time. How is this possible with a dual signal?

    thanks

Sky + can record from the EPG and of course series link. And of course you can record 2 programmes at the same time.

You can watch 1 programme that you have previously recorded and record 2 programmes at the same time.
