Anyone remember what Bosco's favorite number was?

John (yes THE John!)

To answer it seriously. As far as I remember the puppet place in Dun Laoire (sp) owns the rights to Bosco? They would be a good place to start.

That's if your looking for him in the flesh.

Here is all I could find (it was sent to me in an email.) Find out who Hooligan was, he might be able to help you.

Subject: ...see whats on the other side...

People of Ireland (and abroad)

a sad day in our history approaches. on Friday 27th September, Bosco will
cease to exist.

Bosco - the memories
love him or hate him, he was one of the few things in this life that could
be depended on. 2:30 on RTE 2 of a weekday? Bosco. aye. he even survived the
transition from rte2 to network 2 (or The Network, as that man says). alas, his
days are numbered. to 2.

somewhat ironically, i caught maybe a minute of bosco today. not realising
twas the last episode that i shall ever see. i believe twas fate that led me
to see this, in hindsight, most poignant of scenes. there he was in the
place that only he frequented - dublin zoo.

Bosco - the influence
there has always been a debate over whether bosco was male or female. as u
have seen, i always thought of him as male. possibly because i felt less
guilty during my i-hate-bosco phase. which every irish child over the past
20 years has gone through. bosco has moulded the character of irish children
for such a long time. the boy is older than i. however his reign is soon to
come to an end. where are the tributes? the flowers? the songs? the nostaliga?

they are not to be seen. tis for this reason i took it upon myself to write
this moving tribute to bosco, or satan-in-a-box as we affectionately termed him.
as a parting tribute i leave u with the classic magic door sequence.

"Knock Knock open wide
See whats on the other side
Knock Knock anymore
Come with me through the magic door"
Copyright RTE circa 1975

Amen. While he may be gone in name, his spirit will torment our nightmares
til death, the sweet release of death, do us part.

As he sang himself, its time to "tidy up, goodbye, goodbye..."

hooligan.

(Only link I could find).

RTE website used to do Bosco videos, but the link I have no longer works.

Puck: The answer is 5. Which is how many times you had to knock on his box before he came out. It was also written inside the lid, if I remember right.

Hobbes: Perhaps you have to come from the west of Ireland to know this, the article writer your quoted didn't, but Bosco is a boy's name. So Bosco was a boy even it was a girl who had her hand up his bottom. Shouldn't be allowed before the watershed.

the magic door wasnt very 'magic' really, Just a wormhole that invariably ended up in dublin zoo.

Hobbes - when did you get that e-mail?

Bosco hasn't been on TV for years as far as I know. Although I did hear him interviewed on Today FM recently. He's gotten a lot cheekier and has just finished a 70 date tour of Ireland.

Gwan Bosco!

Seems like a useful way of getting quickly from Donnybrook to the Phoenix Park to me wink.gif

We watched the úafásach little fokker as kids alright... my aunt was one of the presenters on it...

His time slot was taken over on RTÉ television by Barney, you know... I'm not sure which is the greater of the two evils!!!

If you ask me, Bosco was one of the greatest shows ever, second only to the turtles (which, incidentally, was made in Fred Wolf studios, Dublin). Admit it, we all watched and we all thought that it was deadly (well, when i was 7 i did). I even had bosco pyjamas. Also, the way his box was like 5 times bigger on the inside that it appeared on the outside amazed me.

The only thing i didnt understand was why the presenters always looked like they'd rather be somewhere else.
Anyway, where ever you are bosco (which is, let's face it, hell) good luck to ya.

Ah I remember bosco well..... the first thing I can clearly remember in my entire life is having to make a decision between watching bosco and watching Tractors outside cutting silage, man those were the days. I must've been 3 at the time because I hadn't started school, but I still remember thinking the presenters alongside bosco were muppets smile.gif.

He is a slippery little character, I always knew there was something lurking behind his/her dead eyes... Can't find a sniff anywhere on the net at all, its hard to believe, I always thought it was impossible to keep something off here! Usually you are falling over yourself for 70's and 80's TV nostalgia pages.... woo is me.

I'm reasonably good at finding stuff, however Bosco is too broard a term.

I know, I have looked long and hard myself. Earlier on someone said that Horslip King of the Faeries was the theme song they used, Is that it? The song is what I really want to get my hands on. Normally, http://tv.cream.org has all this stuff, but it is mostly UK programme's.
