Tribe in the Stephens Green Centre....or any of the Pull 'n Bear outlets.

Ye Ii like Pull 'n Bear too, I also like Japan seen as I'm a girl and Topshop. The sport shops I like are Elvery's and JJB's in Liffey Valley.

Converse are now owned by Nike, who seemed to have cashed in on their "coolness".
    I still quite like them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

I find Tribe to be way expensive.
I rather like K-ot-ic on liffey street. Don't really have a favourite shop as such though, it's really whatever has what I want at the time.

(If converse become one of those things that you're never able to wear again after there's a huge craze for them, I will become very sad. Even if they are owned by nike, I love my converse.)

I dont have a favourite as such. I'd mostly shop in Jack&Jones, Envy, TK Maxx and River Island.

I dont like any shops in ireland, most are overpriced. Very over priced.

K-Ot-ic, Happy Daze in Temple Bar, The Eager Beaver for baggy trousers, Retro and OmDiva in Georges' Street Arcade.

Wow, the name of this forum should be changed to "Fashion"/Appearance. Dear lord, Pull and Bear, Japan .......need I go on. Maybe the topic be called what's your favorite thrift store for the sake of accuracy. Does anyone have even the remotest bit of taste..?

I like Pagan in Galway. It's a boutique run by two local women and they always have unusual clothes by obscure designers. They change the window display every day as well so it's always interesting to walk past. Pricewise, it's not the cheapest shop ever, most things are between E50 and E200 but there's usually at least one rack at the bottom of the shop where they have stuff going more cheaply.

As for converse shoes, I own a pair now but will never buy another as they are now owned by Nike. Plus, they don't support feet very well if you run or walk for prolonged period of time.

why Arther Hugh where do you shop?
oh and Gazzer I think the shop you may be thinking of is "hero"I could be wrong though.

Absolutely, I try to buy clothes when Im abroad - The only regular place would be H&M for the variety and price.

Incidentally, does anyone know when they are going to open thier Henry St store here?

Generally abroad although Mexx, Reiss, Coast, Monsoon (for a bargain), BTs...if I gotta get something here. Generally abroad you get what you pay for. Most of thhe higher end shops here are full of last seasons arse end of lines at extortionate prices. Twice yearly consignments from the states or the Uk keep me going throught the year. Way more cost effective and ye end up with far better stuff! Oh and makeup and underwear from the internet.

    what ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 274 ✭✭Danni

I like A-Wear, Dorothy Perkins, Warehouse. Hate River Island & Oasis coz they don't cater for anybody over a size 10. Oh excuse me, they do. Well their tags say 14/16/18 but if you ask me they're size 10 items with a different tag on them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭otron

Well thats all I saw when I was in Thailand. It was impossible to find normal clothes (that arent designer rip-offs). And those SAME SAME Tshirts were everywhere... I even saw one in Dublin last week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,890 ✭✭✭embee

Shops in Ireland are too dear.

A lot of the big department stores in London are brilliant - Liberty, Selfridges, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Fenwicks etc.

In Ireland though, I like places like Wallis, Dorothy Perkins etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,195 ✭✭✭Corruptedmorals

I rather like K-ot-ic on liffey street.

Yes, I love that shop too. Its spelled k-ot-ik though. Their cords rule...though they are in Eager Beaver..for cheaper.
I like Asha (bit of a rip off), Fresh/Purple Haze and Urban Outfitters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 68 ✭✭sc317

Do be knackerd from climbing all the stairs to the menswear section but Urban Outfitters all the way!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,452 ✭✭✭gogo

I was thinking the very same thing about converse latley, and I came to the conclusion that it was because of Avril lavine and busted or somesuch groups that brought them back into fashion.
I don't wear my converse much anymore, but I still wouldn't throw them out, There was a time when i wouldn't put anything else on my feet.
I can't believe that Nike own them now, what a sham, altho i did wonder why when a few years back i saw nike selling the exact same style sneaks as converse with the nike logo on the side and I was wondering how they could get away with it.
    Well now i know.

Favourite shops, too many to choose from, when i have money i'll visit them all - i love shopping.

I havent bought a stitch of clothes in this country in 3-4 years.
Far 2 expensive. When im in the US i normally shop at Heichts, DSW, Abercrombie etc
With the exchange rate being the way it is, usa is just far too cheap to pass up

I like Jack and Jones as they have clothes that fit me. Im 6'7" so my options are small, but hate the fact that everyone shops there now and you see people wearing the same jackets and shirts as you. There is absolutley nowhere for tall people to shop in this country unless you want to look like a spa. Yes I am tall but I do not like chino's. In fact I am going to start my own link for this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,872 ✭✭✭segadreamcast

Have to agree with everyone shopping in Jack & Jones. I'm bloody sick of it - the good thing is, I have stockpiled a lot of nice t-shirts from that place in the year or so before every Joe (or Jack) Soap discovered it. The bloody Grafton/Henry street outlets have destroyed the 'coolness' of the brand IMO.

Same thing happened to bloody River Island too. Gonna have to turn back to Urban Outfitters again.

    - Incidentally, who has a good range of Pull & Bear? I get the occassional Pull&Bear t-shirt in Roches, near Zara, but I haven't noticed anything worth buying there as of late. Any ideas?

Every time I find a shop I really like they close down... *shakes fist* I do most of my clothes shopping in the US, so much cheaper, Old Navy rocks my socks :D
Good Irish shops are K-ot-ik, Konfusion, Eager Beaver, Sé Sí, and Fresh but if you rummage enough in most shops you can find great stuff. Gotta love Georges Street Arcade for the craziness but not so much for the prices...

it's not so much that they're a size 10 with wrong tag on.. what I find is that they are really poorly made in the larger sizes!! I mean the shape of the clothes just changes completely and simply isn't nice in the larger sizes  even the size 12 jeans are shapeless a lot of the time.. especially in river island. have given up shopping there tbh

Anywhere in Malaysia. While I know I'd be screwed here - anyone know where you can get Batik silk shirts here? Expecting €300-€400 price tag :(
    (€80 - 100 in Malaysia)

I take it your a girl despite your name?! Just wondering how people buy stuff like underwear online if they can't try it on / bring it back very easily (I know it's possible)...surely girls are even pickier than guys in terms of fit? I can understand buying exterior clothes online and having a bit of give and take. Is it a case of an initial gamble and then you know that particular companies sizing style?

I'd love to buy a pair of acupunctures/DCs on the 'net but again shoes just seem like a dodgy investment if you've never tried 'em on - considering the variety of size 10s.

Sorry to go off-topic just interested!
    ;)

i love the Harlequin, Retro (georges st arcade), Wild child, Urban Outfitters (i buy my everything there these days), Topshop (major <3), adhoc and the odd thing from miss selfridge or a-wear.

but i make/inherit/thrift most of my clothes these days.

I'm not too picky... The army navy store usually has good pantaloons, but I got a very nice pair of cords in Topman during the summer, and a pretty nice pair of combats there too a good while ago, both were on sale.

Usually get t-shirts at gigs then.

I don't know of any shops that let you bring back used underwear.

It's a fair point. I can see how it'd be a problem for loadsa people. I've never found it a problem with underwear though, I'm a pretty generic shape I reakon.

Where do you buy online, I'd be interested in doing this also. Brand names in Dublin are at rip-off prices.
