I heard rumours of a new Stargate film under production, using the cast from the TV series. I tried a quick search around the web for something that might confirm this, but either i'm not very good at searching or it is a hoax. Anyone able to shed some light on this?

Also, i'm just wondering what the story with the TV series. Sky one started showing Series 4 episodes but after a few weeks they reverted to showing repeats. I had a look at www.stargatesg1.com and there are season 5 episodes listed. Whats going on?

They're still making episodes in the States - I caught a current one on TV when I was there in May, and it looks like their budget has gone through the ceiling; fantastic effects all round, and a really interesting-looking script arc.

I haven't heard anything about a movie though...

Yea the Stargate series rocks. One of the few good Sci-Fi's around at the moment.

They have seemed to built up quite a complex storyline and it's almost getting Babylon 5'ish in it's plot (in that you probably need to read a website to understand what is going on).

Yeah, i agree with the budget change Shinji, the opening episodes of series 4 which i saw had a lot of very nice special effects - its producers probably noticed how the series was getting very popular.

The first few episodes of series 4 weren't great though (imo), the storylines were all very similar with the same basic idea. Hopefully they will be improve later on.

They played all of series 4 on Sky1. It was a really cool ending.........they blow up a star.......looked really cool.

I read about the move a few months ago, they are meant to be making it along side the Series. Not sure what it will be about, but no doubt it will own

Just got this a minute ago...read:
    MovieStocks™
    Stargate 2
Symbol: SGAT2 Status: Active Genre: Sci-Fi Phase: Development

Stargate 2 has appeared on the MGM slate for the year 2002. No other information have been anounced. It is unclear if the sequel will feature the cast of the 1994 original film starring Kurt Russell and James Spader. The success of the film spawned the TV series Stargate SG-1, began in 1997 and starring Richard Dean Anderson. Whether creators Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich will be involved remains to be seen. Although they did not held on to the rights to Stargate, the duo could be enticed back after the Godzilla debacle.
This is all you'll get about it for now.

I vaguely remember hearing that there orginally 3 stargate films planed, but there was a disagreement with the production company and the second two were canceled. Then they killed off Kowalski at the start of the TV series. He was supposed to have a major role in the second movie.

A little bit of trivia: Windmill lane here in dublin done the special effects for a recent episode.
