Where can I find museum jobs?

I am moving to Dublin from Liverpool and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find museum/heritage jobs.....

    1. In England the Museums Association publish a monthly journal which has loads of job ads but I have looked at the Irish Museums Association website and they don't seem to publish something comparable - are there any other publications I should be looking in?

    2. Anyone know of any Irish-Museum-Jobs websites?!

    3. Does anyone work in a Dublin museum and know where they advertise or if they consider speculative applications?

    4. I have a degree in Archaeology, a Masters in Museum Studies and I am a part-qualified Accountant - is any of this likely to make museums fall over themselves to employ me?!!

Bit of a narrow jobs market I know, but any help anyone can offer would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

I really dont have very much useful info other than recently I saw a position advertised with the National Museum of Ireland in the evening papers but not sure what recruiting for.

You could try there website or else list of all museums on www.dublin.ie

    good luck with job hunting!

i would say a trip to the national museum would answer all your questions.

they should be able to tell you if there is a museum journal, or association, and who you can contact.
im sure there are not so many museums in ireland that they wont be connected in some way.
If they are like any other small niche type market, they will probably all know each other anyway :)

Yeah that's what i reckon....but the problem with museums is that they tend to use a lot of voluteers...very hard to compete in the market place against someone who doesn' get paid!!!!

There's also a jobs link http://www.museum.ie/jobs/index.asp?site_id=0 however the only job listed is well below your experience.

I know someone who works in one of the Museums, I'll ask for a contact and will PM you, however it being the civil service I would imagine there are formal procedures in place so this probably wouldn't be of any use.

Anyway, I get the very distinct impression that you don't have to be mad to work there, but it helps
