DABS will henceforth charge a UK£6 (about €9) surcharge in addition to the applicable UK rate for delivery . Details Here but the BAD news is that they will nab 21% VAT instead of 17.5% as they so do.

DABS are one of the more professional e-commerce tech sites around so I vote this as "Good News" overall.

Actually the £6.05 surcharge includes VAT @21%. The charge is £5 ex VAT.

They are offering a 13 Kilo weight Siemens PC on the home page

This is what happened once the system realised where I was located

    Price £229.00
    standard delivery (13.158kg) £5.11
    additional delivery £5.00
    sub total £239.11
    VAT £41.83
    total £280.94

The vat on the entirety was 17.5% , it woulda been another £8 if the 21% rate were applied to the lot. Watch that space closely :) .

The delivery portion of the 14Kg package worked out at 5.11 + 5 surcharge + VAT or about £12 or €18 for 13KG . €18 from England to the Wesht of Ireland is a Good Rate , them feckers in Dell charge €50 from bleddy Limerick :(

They use good ole GLS for their deliveries as you can see from This Thread Elsewhere . GLS are quite OK in the West but appear to be a shambles in Dublin.

They charge more for the GLS deliveries than Komplett would although its only €4 or €5 extra ....even for a 25Kg 19" CRT monitor .

Sure that's where the bit of profit margin is made!! There's damn all margin in the PC itself :D

I just had a large package delivered from Dabs in 3 days flat by GLS (Dublin 6).

It's the first hassle-free GLS delivery I have ever experienced. I think it's great that they now offer competitive delivery to Ireland, but it does bother me that they have no phone number.
