does anyone else find this extremely difficult to do or am i the only one?

Jesus I used to gag something terrible on one small asprin! You'd swear they were the size of a golf ball. Not too bad now mind you. my tip of the day is wash them down with those little yogurt drink things. Works for me.

Put stupidly large pill in mouth, fill with water.

Look down, and try to swallow the water in one go. The effort will swallow the pill.

    It's down to techique.
Once perfected you can swallow huge, emm... tablets...

Seriously though, put them between your lips, raise glass to mouth and just kind of surf them down your throat on the crest of the water (obviously remembering to swallow just after you take on the water)

yeah any tablet taking makes me baulk, I think sunny Delight or any pure orange drink is the easiest to take tablets with cos of its thick constistancy you can barely feel the tablet..... hopes this helps :D

It's in your head in my experience I used to have the same problem taking pills untill a couple of years ago when I got sick and had to take a hand full of tablets every day for nearly a year. I soon got over it, heck I don't even use water now. When I was a Kid my mum used to have to mash tablets up and put them in water becuase I just couldn't swallow them :o:o

There are worse things than taking pills - Eye drops - they really suck - there is just no good way - particularly when you know they are going to sting like hell for 10 mins!

I used to be the same way - just could not swallow pills. Then I had to take one a day for a few months and 'learned' to overcome the problem I was having. It is just practice I think. As someone else has said, I could swallow all sorts of stuff now...if I wanted to, which I do not. And that's final...

whatever about swallowing, try munchin on them, paracetamol in particular, ti the most evil tasting concoction, if you have any try it for a laugh, don't swallow it, crunch it up with your teeth and savour the tatse

Cremo i know what you mean, i have the same problem but not just with large pills, even the smallest of pills i simply cannot swallow at all, on a few occasions i got pills from the doc and each time i had to go back to get a liquid form of the medicine. so now i just have to remember to ask straight out for a liquid medicine :(

    Don't look at it then.

If you *don't* swallow, you *will* die (not the pills now)....unless you are on an IV drip.

    :p

It is not a problem for me. Never has been. Like trying to swallow anything, sometimes it might get stuck for a second, but the thought of swallowing them in fine and so is the actual doing it generally. A good drink and you'll get it down no problem.

yeah no you're not alone!! friend of mine absolutely hates taking tablets of any kind. finds it really hard. luckily disprin are available.. but for anything else she breaks it up and has it with spoon of yoghurt. does the trick for her!

Doctor gave me advice on swallowing some huge pills once, and it works every time for me now. You need to be kind of quick about it, but if you take a sip or 2 of water, without the pill, then quickly pop the pill in your mouth and drink some more water down, it may help. Seems your throat is already working and its just a matter of keeping going. It's all mind over matter though, I think, as when you chew and swallow food, its much larger than any pill you're going to swallow!

Me too - impressed a lot a people with it. My cousin is not able to at all - she's the same age as me (29) and the last time she tried to swallow a painkiller she drank 3 glasses of water and the tablet was still in her mouth!

Slightly off topic but whats the feckin story with tablets these days..
Went to the doctor last year with a sore throat, very sore and ever
had trouble drinking water.. turned out to be tonsilitis and got a
prescription.. So I went to the chemist, got the tablets and the
f*cking things are the size of a a small car*

Like, how the hell was I supposed to take them eh? Ended up breaking
them up and taking one piece at a time..

    *slight exageration

Cover the pill in saliva and it goes down a lot easier.

I had a hard time swallowing the suppository the doctor gave me after I'd used it the way he told me to

Even the smallest of tablets feels like a flippin frisbee when its going down with me....I always take em with milk - the thickness of the liquid eases the passage !!

Jeez - if you were ever in doubt that artificial sweetners were ever anything other than chemicals...try putting one of the little f*ckers on your tongue - make's a paracetamol taste like candy !!

Yep ... easy. I think it's harder to swallow pills with water because I always swallow the water first and the tablet is still there.
