my marshall has been giving me a lot of trouble for the last while what happens is basically it cant handle goinf over a certain level and it becomes completely inaudable not just distorted it makes very distinct cracking sound and then the level just jumps from quite to really loud randomly, im gonna bring it in to a repair person but am wary as i already spent 40 euro getting it "fixed" :( any ideas or recommendations??

Tell whoever "fixed" it before it didn't work and you want your money back.

I'd consider the value of the amp before leaving it in anywhere, there's no point throwing good money after bad if, in the long term, you'd be better off putting the money towards something better.

If you do for the repair, dabhoys knows a good fellow, PM him for the guy's number.

What model is the amp, how old is it , is it still under warranty?
I am pretty certain they come with a one year warranty, as I exploded one or two in the past.
So bring it back to the shop, and if they can not fix it and have to ship it to Marhsall.. they may charge you for the shipping..possible.

If its secondhand , go to any authorised Marshall dealer. Get them to sort it out.

I bought a TSL 100 the other day, and within 1 hour the Crunch channel was _dead_, Music Maker are giving me another brand new head amoro.. that's good service..

Have you done the obvious thing and checked that its not the jack cables that are screwed? Thats what it sounds like to me by the symptoms you described, or the input jack of the guitar.

What model is the Amp? Is it a valve amp?
