Hi, following on from this topic, seems to be adifferent problem now(http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=194608)
Now, when I put real cd's(non copied) into both of the drives, nothing seems to be showing up
I'm just wondering anyone got any idea's on whats going on?
I just sloted the new dvd-rw in and set the master/slave and the drive was reconised no drivers installed or anything
both drives I've got are pioneer 108 dvd-rw
    and lg cd-r 48x
this is starting to annoy me. I disabled virtual daemon(image drive) thinking it was that, but doesn't seem to be
    anyone got any idea's?

I've had a similar problem to this before. I too had an LG cdr 48x (not sure of exact model number). I also had a Aopen DVD rom and a single Seagate hard drive. What i wanted to do was have the CDR and HD on the same IDE channel (primary) and have the DVD ROM on the other channel (secondary). I thought this setup might maximise transfer speeds from DVD to HD. Anyway...it just didn't want to work. The dvd seemed to be ok but the CDr had problems recognising disks, for example i put in a data cd and it thought it was audio and began to play (audibly) the data cd!? I think i tried burning a cd too but it came out corrupted.

I tried everything to fix it: double checked jumpers on drives, changed ide cables, switched secondary and primary, looked for firmware update on site (none there when i checked). In the end i had to settles for the CDr on its own ide channel and the DVD on the same channel as the HD. This seemed to work. At a later stage i got a second HD and put it in on the same channel as the CDr and all seems to be ok still.

If anybody knows whats goin on here i'd love to know - it was a real mystery.

    hmm,
I have the dvd and cd-r on the same ide
and 2 harddrives on the other ide(seagate, and wd)
    But I always had 2 cd-r's,(lg 48x and a samsun dvd/cd-r combo)
I have the lg set as slave now i tink it is, i will swap them around later on to see if it helps,
its really annoying me as I want to backup a lot of stuff I have stored on my drive
