this is an issue i never see raised on message board.
basically, what frontmen do you think are better without the guitar....
personally i think Layne Stanley should have never picked up a guitar, he was way better when he was free.

My own personal opinion and I know i'm going to get abuse for this but I think Dave Grohl should never have played guitar hes about 10000000000000000 times better as a drummer than a guitarist. But in saying that he has an enormous presence on stage as a frontman. I still reckon he should have stayed playing drums.

I think Layne should never have picked up a syringe, he was way better when he was alive.

Besides, if he didn't pick up a guitar, there would be no Angry Chair.

Fred Durst for me, but then if he didn't pick up a guitar we wouldn't have that hilarious mpeg that was doing the rounds a few weeks ago.

The thing is some people say that they feel the need for a guitar. David Byrne said he always felt naked when only singing in Talking Heads

Axl, never, ever, ever touch a guitar again.

Have you ever seen the TH performance on the Old Grey Whistle Test dvd (a pretty frenetic version of )Psycho Killer, I've never seen anyone look as uncomfortable singing as Byrne in that performance. And he had a guitar so I hate to think of what he would have been like without one (not even a huge suit to hide in).

The man is meant to be incredibly shy. Poor guy I'd hate to be a lead singer and be like that

he puts on a great performance though, I think that awkwardness suits a song like Psycho Killer

    Phil Anselmo (with SR)
Anselmo writes most of Down's riffs. He also came up with the opening riff for Mouth For War by Pantera which was one of Pantera's best riffs. Without that riff, God knows where Pantera would be because it went to #1 in the US charts.
