Laptop docking stations?

I had a really annoying problem with my laptop overheating and shutting down. I discovered the problem tonight when I learned that the air intake for the laptop is on the bottom of it (great work Toshiba).

Now as I've never heard of them before, I've no idea what to look for. Who sells them (in Galway) and how much would one set me back? I'm just after something cheap that will keep my fan clear as the laptop is now currently perched precariously on a stack of CDs...

Maybe you can use something like that:

    or

You might not find that in Galway though...

    Docking stations are kinda expensive
so look on the bottom of the laptop - there are two holes either side of the slot with the flaps. You could get a piece of wood or something and make two progs to fit. If you could get flat piece of metal or plywood to put under it that would also stop the inlet getting blocked.

Note - other brands of laptops would be different.

Try Maplins, you can buy the self adhesive small rubber feet that you find on the bottom of ordinary Pc cases for less than a euro. A couple of them strategically placed should lift the rear of the laptop enough to give a good airflow.

A lot of laptops use cooling vents on the underside. The feet of the laptop should raise it sufficiently to allow good airflow. Are the rubber feet missing from your laptop? If so you should get some replacements as Hagar suggests.

Nah, the feet are there. I was thinking about sticking on bigger feet, but I'm worried they might break off.

Maplins have two in their brochure. I was thinking of getting one myself. As my laptop gets really hot underneath if I'm gaming or watching a DVD etc.
