Envy! I've always wanted to live six months somewhere warm, six months at home!

I've never done it myself but recently heard a story about an IT consultant who works 3 months in the summer in Dublin and 3 months in the winter (their summer) in Oz. He's quite the expert so the money he earns in that 6 months work frees him up to do whatever he wants for the other 6 months.

Heard that a couple of days ago so I've had time to calm my jealousy a bit - I'm only slightly greener than Shrek now ;)

Hmm, and if he spent six months living in a tax haven he'd possibly get away without paying any tax on the money earned in Dublin and maybe Australia too (although I don't know too much of the legalities).

Oh yeah - forgot to mention that. The guy who told me the story (works in the company that hires this guy for the 3 months) didn't know the specifics but apparently he isn't officially resident in either country so his taxes were pretty minimal alright.
