I've only just discovered Skype VOIP application, and can honestly say its awesome. But I've been thinking, I would never have heard of it, unless I'd randomly read about it in a newspaper article. Is there any other internet application out there, that people swear by, and I haven't heard of yet??

1) Miranda Instant Messenger - http://www.miranda-im.org/ - Supports ICQ, MSN, AOL, IRC etc. from one simple and easy program. There are also plug-ins available from the site to support other services (i.e. NetSend etc.).

2) Mozilla Firefox - http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ - MS Internet Explorer alternative...

3) Mozilla Thunderbird - http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/ - MS Outlook Express alternative...

4) PopTray - http://www.poptray.org/ - email checker and notifier - plug-ins exist for Hotmail and Gmail also.
