Psychologists vs. Pros

Friend of mine who is an editor in the BBC sent me this heads up...

    Wild Cards
    8.30-9.00pm BBC RADIO 4
Consistent success at the card table is rarely down to pure luck. It
takes a cunning combination of psychological prowess, a keen eye
for detail and a good memory for numbers – at least, that’s the
view of two would-be poker aficionados, Simon “Slowhand” Singh
and Raj “Pokerface” Persaud. In Wild Cards, they team up in an
effort to discover what makes a good poker player and, in the
process, reveal the fascinating stories that reflect the mathematics
    and psychology involved in gambling.
Facing them around the table is a formidable trio, whose
experience far outweighs their own. Barny Boatman is one quarter
of the self-styled “Hendon Mob” – a bunch of North London lads
who travel the world together, playing poker.Writer Victoria Coren
has gone from hopeful amateur to one of the most accomplished
female players in the country. She arranges tournaments, writes
about the game and competed in the World Series in Vegas earlier
this year. Finally, somewhere between a pro and an amateur, is
    writer and actor Patrick Marber.
Recorded over the course of one evening, Wild Cards combines the
excitement and drama of poker with the insights, anecdotes and
    straight-dealing of a late-night discussion programme.
