setting up cdrom on pentium 1,oldbios.

    i need to know how to setup standard cdromdrive on pentium 1 pc,dell 1994.i go to bios,theres no autodetect function in bios, ide hd,,its just user,or put in no,s for lba parking,no of sectors,etc,i have harddrive working i just want it to detect cdrom drive, i understand i can install win98 on hd and use add hardware, etc,just wondering if theres a quick way to do it.from bios.just setting up p1 to be used for typing letters etc.for friend.bootup screen gives no info on pc,just graphics card and memory ,basic info.cdrom has power ,ejects,win3.1 on it at present drive c just shows up.boots up win.3.1.
