As usual, the book is ****e compared to the book. Stuff the hammer, the Axe in the book was better.

i hate when they rape and hack at great books to make a quick buck on a hollywood book.

yeah, the book is always better than the book. my favourite book was made into a book once, but i way preferred the book, to be honest.

    LOL, that's a it odd alright smile.gif

But on the subject of Book => Movie conversions...
I read Angela's Ashes there last week (ok, I know - very moany and depressing) then out of utter coincidence someone in my house rented it on video, and oh...my...god!
I mean fair enough they have to cram a fast-paced 500 pages or so into two hours, but so many great scenes were missing.
Apart from that, the movie lacked the thought and emotion that was so central to the books appeal.

It really makes me wonder though...
Are the likes of the Shining and the Beach in the same boat?
If they are, I'm off to get my hands on both of 'em smile.gif

Imo both those books aree better than the film versions, but thats not to say they're bad films.

The Stanley Kubrick-directed version of The Shining is a little different to the book but it's still a really good film. Stephen King wasn't happy with it though and a few years ago they made a mini-series of the book following the storyline more closely. I haven't seen it but apparently it wasn't as good. Those scary hedges in the book don’t transfer well to celluloid...
