We'll also be using the Dawn of War channel on the teamspeak server so get that setup as well.

Space marines are great fun to use, the Terminators and Melee Dreads are amasing, but they do seem to lack a 'super unit', however I think the orbital relay more than makes up for it, but you just cant beat the likes of an avatar or the mighty squiggoth. My favourite army would be a toss between Chaos and Eldar though, I have a soft spot for Obliterators and Defilers (and having a 2000pt chaos army myself). The eldar are just awsome, Seer Council, Banshee's, Fire Prisms, Wraith Lords, Avatar *dribble*, farseer unbelievable too. I always found orks kind of weak though, the boyz just dont last anywhere near long enough, and their rokkits are pants anti tank, cant hit a land raider if it was stationary and within spitting on distance, however their Nobs are unstoppable, their like the Seer Council, only you can have more than 1 squad, insane unit.

Whats this #strategy.ie thing? is it a server or a website or both?

Its an mIRC channel, on the server quakenet. Google for 'mIRC', connect to the server 'irc.quakenet.org' (or something liek that? correction), and join the channel '#strategy.ie'. MIRC is a chat program used mostly by gamers, quite a useful tool, and most clans for most games use it.

As far as I know, its still a free download, and you dont NEED to set up an account, although if you want autoops or what not (which you wont need if your just up for some DoW) you will need to be auth'ed, which istn hard to do.

got setup on irc. its only a freakin evaluation version though. how do i use it to play DoW?

You dont.

IRC is for chat only, its where we typically met up before a game.
And then move to the teamspeak server (www.teamspeak.org) were we start the game etc.
