Mahon Point traffic - another moan

    I expect there to be a lot of tarffic issues at Mahon Point when it opens - the layout is very bad.

    We are all getting used to the way the road veers just after project management, we are getting used to the fact that coming from the slip you have a left for B&Q, a right lane for Mahon point and oh yes the middle lane is also marked to allow folks to go right.. gee that will mean fun at Christmas...

    But now we have a sign up approaching the slip -

    - left across the bike lane for the tunnel,
    - 2 lanes straight for city centre/ferry etc except as soon as you pass the junction those two lanes suddenly become 1 straight on for Jacobs Island and 1 for right onto the south link..

    This seems to be the worst designed traffic system by a long shot - the signage seems to have been placed behind other poles as well..

    Have to agree with you on all counts Parsi, the worst designed traffic system by a long shot. As someone who comes from the Mahon/blackrock direction every morning I remember thinking we were living is a spot which didnt suffer any major traffic problems like everywhere else. That will all change no doubht once Mahon Point comes on board. Whats the story with that center lane going past mahon point coming from the South Link, a recipie for a disaster, i had a few close calls from Dodgy Van/truck drivers just swapping lanes when they want already.
