    The thing is it has moved beyond just religion. It is about land, revenge, politics and power. These things are not easily given up.

    When asked what he thought of christianity, Ghandi replied "I like your Christ, but not your christians."

    Why anyone could be so naive to think that the powerful people of these different groups could unite together for common purpose, when they persecute those of relativley similar beliefs in thier own groups. When sunni and shia muslems get on and when orthodox jews get on with other jews and the greek orthodox get on with the russian orthodox (not to mention the druze).

    As Cesar said "I'd rather be the headman in a village than second in Rome" people don't relinquish power volantarily, so any time anyone suggests something that requires the powerful to act against thier own interests you can ignore the argument.
