Remember, try not to pick anything too well-known or in the charts right now.

It's all about the obscure albums. So, i'll start..

Garden State OST



'Garden State' opened on limited release on US screens last August, to critical acclaim and has also attained cult status among fans.

The soundtrack to accompany it has been constantly in the Top 10 in the sales rank of Amazon.com since it's release last August, even outselling new albums by Green Day, Joss Stone and U2 (among others) on Amazon at the moment (currently at No.6 on Amazon.com).

This CD feels like a compilation mix-tape of indie / alternative music. Personally picked by the director and star of Garden State, Zach Braff (known to all us as JD in TV's 'Scrubs').

The album has no filler, with the possible exception of Bonnie Somerville's "Winding Road" (a star of 'The OC' who also has a singing career-the song is not terrible, it just isn't the right song to finish the album).

You must hear this album!!

I dunno how well known these guys are, but I saw them when they supported The Roots.
Dublin band. Play funky rock, I suppose is the best way to describe it.
I'm convinced the lead singer is pissed/stoned throughout the whole album (and perhaps all the time anyway).

13 tracks, an intro and a skit.
I'm not a fan of skits, but this is one of the funniest things I've ever heard on an album.
It's quite upbeat for the first half 6 or so songs, then it slows down. Maybe a little too much.

i've said it before and i'll say it again: arcade fire - fuuneral! not sure how obscure they are anymore though, although i doubt they will be appearing in many charts any time soon.

Listened to the samples of 'Funeral' on Amazon - it does sound very good!

its an electronic album, music that im usually too into, but its amazing. if you like post-rock or bands like my bloody valentine then this is the band for you.gorgeous soundscapes abound!
