    Hi Folks,
Just built myself a P4 Prescott on Abit IS7 in Antec 350W Smartpower case. The AbitEQ monitor of hardware says that my processor temp is idling at 47 and goes up to 54 during full load while my power supply temp is 47 when working heavy. The RPM of my sysfan (the psu fan is connected to this indicator) shows rpm of about 800 usually while only goes up to 1100 when at high temp. Is this all correct? And does the ABITEQ actually monitor thinks correctly?
Just worried that I might be doing some damage.

Depends on the stepping, earlier Prescotts (stepping C0) seemingly run hotter than the newer ones (stepping D0) however my Prescott/3Ghz/C0 runs at 39/40c idle and up to 49c running high load (the room temp is around 15/16c). I have an Antec case too.

Get another tool like motherboard monitor (http://mbm.livewiredev.com/) to see if it reports different temps. Use CPUID (http://www.cpuid.com/) to determine stepping.

aye, yea, my p4 is running at just under 50 avg. thats a little, high i know, but man it was up at 67 there for a while, Im just using the starndard fan, and it was full of dust, I was even getting error messages coming onscreen about 'thermal zone' to high.
I just stuck the hover ontop of it, makes the fan spin around really fast , cleans it all out.

More recently i broke my case fan, so i only have the one on the cpu now. I just leave the case open, seems to be fine, temps are all in order.
