WOW! I loved this film smile.gif Just the right amounts of wierdness and humour. Don't be fooled by the crap sounding title - it's brilliant. Kevin Spacey was perfect for the dodgy/horny father role. Go and see it smile.gif

    You gotta see this one.

Now Rob, I never done ya wrong wha? smile.gif Went to see it again myself on Sunday, the cinema was jammers, to my surprise - it does definitely get better on second viewing.

Of course there were two French oul wans blathering away at the start of it so i had to give the old 'vicious stare' approach to get them to shut up smile.gif

And i definitely thought that shot of the plastic bag was fab smile.gif

    Indeed Conor, indeed smile.gif

(Although in fairness Joe has been obsessing over this movie for the past 3 months as well!)

I was walking into work this morning and, being bin collection day in some parts of the city, there were bags and boxes being tossed all about in the air. I caught myself standing staring at them more than once...

    (I wanna "plastic bag" screensaver! tongue.gif )

    Ja,
    Rob

I certainly have a new favourite movie. Saw this twice over the weekend... I haven't felt such an urge to applaud at the end of a movie in a very, very long time; and probably ever, in fact.

Every central character is meticulously developed and fleshed out; it's funny and sad , comedic and tragic, all at once.

    Wow.

Kevin Spacey stood out (there has GOT to be a "Best Actor" in there for him) but all the performances were superb. It improves on second viewing, by the way...

    Ja,
    Rob

Nearly everyone in the cinema started breaking their heart laughing at that shot smile.gif i thought it was one of the most striking images i'd seen in the cinema in years, if not ever.

My vote for the best scenes goes to the Smiley Burger bust, the neighbour in Kevin Spacey's garage, and the aggro at the dinner table smile.gif

I just saw it yesterday and what can I say...

This movie just blew me away, a real clasic.

I'll definately be going to see it again.

I thought the best moment was when he bought the new car, threw his hands up in the air and declared, "I RULE!"

Well I meant to post about this film after seeing it on friday night but away who better late than never. This has to be the best film I have seen in years. It walked the fine line between issues and comedy and never even wobbled. I'm not a big oscar award fan but IMHO this film should take the lot its a master piece.

Great film, except for all that "so much beauty in the world" crap. What kind of freak goes around filming corpses? And what was with that 28,345,000 whatever total he had in his notebook?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,438 ✭✭✭TwoShedsJackson

Wow you really soaked it up then, didn't you Blitzkrieger? The homeless person he filmed wwas dying, not dead. The 29,000 he was writing in the notebook was the money he was making from selling drugs, he sayd near the end he has nearly 40,000 dollars to go to New York, as that is some months later.

As for 'so much beauty in the world crap' - thats just you missing the main point of the film.
