decided to start another thread for this so people would see it rather than bury it at the bottom of the existing thread, emailed them recently to find out what the situation was with the break in airing season 4 and heres whay that said.....

    "Hi ######,

    Thank you for your email.

The update on CSI programme series is as follows:
CSI (Vegas): RTÉ has not secured the rights to
    broadcast this series.

CSI (New York) RTÉ has secured the licence to broadcast
series 1 but it has not been scheduled, thus it may be
    2005 before it is broadcast.

Series 2 of CSI (Miami)began last night (Tues. 5 Oct)
    on RTÉ 2 at 9.30.

CSI (Crimescene Investigations), series 3 is currently
running on Thursdays, on RTÉ 1 and the time ranges from
    between 12.45am and 1.15am.

Again, thank you for your query.

    Best regards

    ####
    RTÉ Information Office."

so there you have it folks, doubt im the only person who finds this a bit odd

Weren't they only abut half way through the series they were showing? Because I know they started in the middle of the series before when they brought it back...

Once again credits to RTÉ Schedulars. Possibly one of a handful of decent shows the station has and they bury it down late at night. If they kept it up on prime time it would probably become one of their most watched showes..

But, oh now. RTÉ want to force more reality tv down our throats.

    Just a miscommunication.

Unless the person who answered your query watched the programme they wouldn't necessarily know that CSI: Vegas referred to the original series. The correct title for it is CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

people seem to be missing what i found strange, they have the rights to show new episodes of the 2 spinoff shows but dont have the rights to show new eps of the original which they already showed half a season of, go figure

Well you'll have to directly ask them. Ask specifically why they have stopped showing Season 4 of C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation on a Monday night and when do they hope to resume transmission of Season 4 of C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation. Do not call it C.S.I. (Vegas) because that might mean nothing to the person who reads the mail...

While you're at it, bitch at them for their shoddy treatment of Law & Order, which only took about 45 weeks to show a 25 episode season...

    Absolutely agree.

But to be fair, it comes as no shock to me, as they have a proven track record of doing exactly this with some of their best shows e.g. west wing, the practice, ER...etc

It's exactly why I wait for series like these to be screened on E4 or whatever, they may be quite a bit behind and all, but at least you can guarantee that your favourite programme will be where it should be on the same day, at the same time, week in week out.

well you never know RTE might secure the rights to it all and then drive the show into the ground by airing it really like at night (ala stargate @ 1.00am Mondays)
More value for money for paying your tv license I guess...
