I thought this was quite good. They've done some good deals on the previous LOTR 4 disc sets too. It works out just over €29 roughly. (€26 + €3 shipping):

    http://www.dvd.co.uk/product.asp?id=DVDCOUK61

play.com has it for £24.99 including delivery. (just over €36 roughly):
But if you click on the 'Euro' currency on play.com, the price is €40!
Does that mean if you order it in Sterling, you'll get it cheaper?

Yep- for Play.com if you order it in Sterling you will get it cheaper.
Same applys for CDwow- if you go to UK site you will get it cheaper than getting it from the Irish site. Also on the CDwow.co.uk site you can change the currency at the last page of your order to Euro and it works out cheaper than the exchange rate that you usually get from your credit card.

Its worth trying lall the cdwow sites to see the different prices, sometimes the cdwow norwegian site works out the cheapest, and you do the same thing with choosing the currency at the last stage of ordering,

has anyone ordered from dvd.co.uk before? Are they a reputable website?

cd-wow have gone down in my opinion. In the last 2 weeks 3 dvds I have been looking for have mysteriously disappeared from the catalog and have re-appreared in the for rent section.

I wanted to order the Royle Family series 2 and 3. They were available when I searched. The following day they were in the for rent section only.

Same thing happened yesterday with a dj shadow cd I wanted to buy. Today it's in the for rent section.

dvd.co.uk have all the dvds I want and are quite cheap esp The Royle Family ones.

    many thanks
    B

Yes I've ordered from dvd.co.uk a few times. I've never had any problems. As I mentioned, the past few years they always do a special on the LOTR 4 disc special edition and they are usually the cheapest on the interweb. A good offer like this always gets a site noticed.

i want the box set, thats what i usually buy. You know the one with the statue and stuff.

yes jennyb I have ordered from Loaded247 - no problems

    likewise dvd.co.uk - no problems.

Ordered Men Behaving Badly 6 dvd set for €15 from selectdvds but they came back to say that they had run out and that there would be no further stock. That can be a bit of a problem with smaller suppliers on good deals.

I got the Two Towers 4-disc set from there. Same price too (£17.99). No problems with delivery or anything.

Worth remembering that dvd.co.uk charge £2 (a shade under €3 at today's exchange rate) for non-UK deliveries when you're comparing prices closer to the release date though (I don't know whether this is per delivery or per item, though if they package them individually it's the same thing). Makes the price £19.99 (dcGT mentioned this in the first post above)

I have mine on order from DVDSoon at 38Cdn$ (about €25). Region 1 release with a sturdier DVD slipcase.

Good price from dvd.co.uk for the Region 2. I have used them before and had no problems

I don't know the specifics but it's usually something that people think they want but at the end of the day most people don't watch all the features on the extra discs. I have the other 2 4 disc sets and I have only ever gotten around to watching the films.

It's nice to have the box set with the extended films though :)

Yeah that's the main appeal to me...altho i have watched all the docs on the other boxsets at least once... :D

The main appeal is the Extended Edition of the film. The extras are something I will watch but no priority.

Woo, I've ordered it from DVD.co.uk, I hope they have the same policy as Play.com and post it before the release date so it gets to you on time! :)

Yes but this seems to be Region 1, a bit of a problem if you don't have a multi-region player. Also, how much is the shipping on that site?

Very true about the multiregion player. A lot of the cheapo DVD players can be made multi region quite easily. The branded (Toshiba/JVC/Pioneer/Sony) ones need an external hack. Well worth getting a player multiregioned.

Free delivery from Canada which usually takes about a week to me here in Glasgow and they generally ship about 1 week before the release date (This is quite close to Christmas so it may take a little bit longer).

That's a good find, especially with the free delivery from Canada. I presume the packaging and DVD extras would be the same as Europe?

u can get a cheap region 3 (asian) box set at http://www.cd-wow.com dunno if it's the same as cdwow.com. i can't access both sites tonight tho.

The box is sturdier than the Region 2 box (better cardboard). The insert detailing the DVD will be bi-lingual (English and French) and there is a French Dolby 2.0 stereo track instead of the English stereo track. Everything else is the same.
