    Design and development Engineer Job Specification

    Title:
    Design and Development Engineer (or) Product Development Engineer

    Brief description:
    A hands-on person with a high degree of technical aptitude and the ability to take responsibility for major aspects of medical device design and testing through to high volume production. A self-starter who enjoys the autonomy of working with small dedicated teams and contracted individuals.

    Necessary:
    Educated to primary degree level in an engineering or technical discipline
    5+ years in the Medical device or similarly related industry
    Experience working with an R&D team
    Proven track record in bringing new product development projects from concept through manufacture
    Experience working in a design-control regulated environment

    Desired:
    Clinical experience
    CAD and solid modeling experience
    Medical device design experience
    Prototype building and testing experience
    Toolroom experience
    Injection mould setting/optimizing experience
    Medical device assembly line support experience
    Process flow and process design experience

    (Time served as a technician in any of these disciplines is a distinct advantage)

    Role:
    New product development from concept to manufacture
    Process development to support high volume production
    Develop test methods to support validation and production
    Maintain documentation to support design control for CE certification and FDA approval
    Develop and generate documentation including procedures and validations
    Control the execution of validation protocols and associated report generation

    Reporting to:
    Product Development Manager
