Heartburn and training

    Hi All,

Quick Question. I've recently started back at training (about 1 month). Last week the trainer gave me the 'real' routine. Basically doubled the weights etc.. that I was doing, after doing a full assessment. I am struggling with it at the min (But was able to complete the full routine).

I have noticed that I now have an acidy feeling in chest (like heartburn), i've never had it before this ever... could it possibly be something to do with the training. or if your unfit or something?

The part that kills me the most at the min is the final run on the threadmill. Run for 3 mins, then walk for 1, run for 3, walk for 1 etc.. for 20 mins... and I do find that really hard at the min, after doing all of the weights!

    Any ideas?

    Oi!

I didn't understand the heartburn that you feel... it's a pain in your heart? It's normal to feel muscle sore, but pain in the heart it's not that normal. If it still keeps appearing, you should see a cardiologist.

About the treadmill, you're doing a general interval training to improve your cardiovascular performance.

About the cardiovascular (CV) and strength training (ST), I prefer doing ST first and CV in second. I prefer being really fresh during ST and in CV I only do a soft cool down program, with low heart-rate. But this is for me, everyone can do the way they prefer, just as long as they adapt the program to his choice.

Do you eat anything before training?

    Thanks for the replies,

I had something to eat about 2 hours before training. Maybe this was the problem, because since then I've not eaten at least 3 hours before going to train and the work days have brought my dins with me and had at lunchtime, and I havent had it again, and hopefully wont! [Fingers crossed] Just the thought of a cardiologist *shudder* Thanks! :D
