PH100 is pretty good if you are on a budget, what price were you quoted for ct100?

seen it for about 1 euro per metre ex. shipping. local electrical wholesaler i rang sells rg6 for 18 euro for 100m roll, so i might try that and see how it works out.
    cheers for your input

i would strongly advise you not to use RG6, a euro per metre is expensive in my view but it is very good cable. Someone here mentioned b and q had a good deal on ph100 for a roll which is pretty good and is CAI approved. You really would be crazy not to spend a little bit more on cable otherwise you will have a weak link in an otherwise top notch system.

    Good luck

re CT100 cable, local electrical place near me sold me 100m for €30 (inc vat). Place mostly sells to trade but does retail too.

Excuse my ignorance but whats the difference between RG6 and CT100. I have always used RG6 and have never had any problems with it. Granted I dont tend to use anymore that 40 feet at a time if I can avoid it.

I can buy a 100m roll of RG6 for €14.50 (inc vat) here in Waterford City

Sounds too cheap for real CT100, do you know if it actually says CT100 on the cable with the marking "CAI Approved" ? If it does not then it aint ct100

CT100 has proper copper tape and braid so has lower loss per metre and less chance of interference from other sources. RG6 is not approved by the CAI trade organisation in the UK

    Found This on Satcure:

CT100 and H109 are slightly more robust but still susceptible to kinking. Being stiffer, they are not as good as SATDS (RG6) for looping between equipment. However, losses are lower than SATDS and they survive outdoors better.

If you dont use the right cable you run an increased risk of water intrusion & that'll really ruin your day when you cook your Reciever &/Or you LNB-Motor

gonna get the ct100 or ph100 cable as you said tony as i did not realise my lidl rg59 cable had so little braiding. its only about 5 metres from my dish to reciever so thats why the lidl cable seemed fine to me i guess.would you get a better signal to noise ratio with better cable as some of my channels go when it rains or do you need a bigger dish and .3db lnb.

Well a bigger dish is the most efficient way to get better reception providing of course the dish is correctly aligned. Better cable will also help although not as noticeable on a short run. Be careful when looking at noise figures for lnb's as some quote 3db as being typical which means it could be anything up to .6 at different freqs, more reputable manufacturers quote noise figures as maximums which means that a .3 maximum will not go higher than .3 on any frequency.
Lnb's are cheaper than they used to be so you can get a really good one for less than 40 euro . Also make sure you seal the f connector at the LNB, self amalgamating tape is best, ordinary electrical tape is useless.

    Good luck
