...How do you install an Audigy 2!?

Had problems a few months ago trying to install an Audigy 2 plat on an ASUS A7N8X deluxe.Seemingly there is a known incompatability issue... Anyway gave up as i was busy and had thing to do in work.

Got my hands on an Abit NF7-S v2 and I'm having all sorts of issues trying to get this god damn Audigy2 installed. Basically the drivers on the installation cd wont install properly and hangs the machine. On rebooting, it only gets as far as Windows Xp loading screen and then hangs. I have to take the bloody card out to get XP to load up. Then i have to try and rid myself off all the CREATIVE shite which is a pain in the ass.

    Any ideas?

    /me clutching at straws.

is the onboard sound disabled in the bios?

Try disabling any onboard sound options in BIOS and if that makes no diff try moving the card to a different PCI slot...

Updating the BIOS may also work.

    Hope this helps

Are there firewire ports on both motherboard and soundcard by any chance? If so, disable the onboard one for a bit.

I had the Audigy2 installed in the two slots next to the AGP one and never had even one problem.

Id be looking at the Audigy itself for the problems, i didnt have to do anything majour to get it working (just disabled onboard sound)..... and it was perfect for 6months!!

I gotta say im really sorry to hear your having problems.......

No worries col. I think i'm jinxed.

I tried all the slots. The pain is trying to clear the machine of all the creative crapola.

I actually got the card working and had a game of COD UO and by god EAX is brilliant but once i turn the machine off and reboot,it refuses to get past the XP screen and instead just hangs.

Anyway i'm too pissed off with this carry on at the moment and have gone back to my GAinward card as at least its drivers behave (and work)

That is totally crazy, the fact that youve tried other drivers, different slots...... and still with the problems, now i know why people give out about creative.

PS this most lightly has nothing to do with it, but did you un-install the gainward drivers?

Yep. I uninstalled all the sound drivers. Actually on one of the attempts to install the bloody thing my video card drivers were corrupted....

Never experienced anything like these Creative drivers....fucking impossible to rid yourself of them without a ****ing nuke.

I can sympathise with, i've an audigy two platinum and had a nightmare with the drivers, and when they finally started semi-working without crashing the pc I used to get foul ear bleeding static bursts whenver I enabled 3d sound effects in games. You might try using Driver Cleaner (http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/) to remove any vestiges of the creative stuff and then reinstall.

It's sod all help but mine one day just miraculously cleared up after a new update and a clean install, they have to have been one of the most irritating driver makes i've ever come accross.

i've actually got an audigy 2 sitting here on my desk which i was going to install in my new IC7 board, but on reflection i think i might give it a miss and stick with the onboard sound. looks to be a bit of a bitch to do. sorry to hear of your troubles, but if it makes you feel any better, you've probably saved me some grief. ;)

not only is it a pci card, but its pretty much the standard top end card from the people who invented home pc sound cards (more or less).
