Another Dead Junkie?

Dont know why I am writing this, just seemed a nice outlet to tell you a story

Recently I moved into a new apartment near the city centre, however it has a renowed drug problem.

This morning, after getting out of the shower, I heard some yelling and what sounded like someone getting slapped silly. Therefore I was kinda shocked when I looked out the window, that overlooks a nearby school - to see 3 junkies in the car park, 2 of whom were trying to revive a "friend". However from where I was standing I could see that the guy was lifeless, either that or very sleepy.

Luckily both of his "friends" had nice mobile phones and proceed to dial 999 or 112 or whatever. However due to their only awakened stature they verbally blasted the operator, due to their own inadequte directions to their fallen companion.

Eventally 2 - 3 guys from a nearby methadone clinic came by and tried, in vain, to revive the guy, aswell as a "passing garda".

The whole scenario was already pushing 15-20 minutes, when the ambulance arrived.

However, and this struck me as funny as hell, or as callous, whichever flavour you want - while waiting for the garda/ambulance - his "friends" proceeded to drag his body around a bit, emptying his pockets, and then proceeded to stash whatever "gear" he had and they had into the drain that was in the school yard.

Ambulance arrived and took the guy away, and that was that - however, later on, one of his "friends" came back and collected the hidden prize that was left in the drain.

I just thought this story would make an interesting read, and shows, to me anyway, that junkies are only "friends" aslong as they get their fix in the end. However it did show a compassionate side that was unexpected - but I dont care about that, I have always hated junkies (I dont give a rat's ass about why they do drugs) - especially since out of the 3 times I have been mugged, 2 of those times involved these pathetic people.

To me, this morning was just a case of natural selection

well look, i'm sorry but he's dead..

he has no need for the heroin, and if it means they get a free fix.. *Shrug* I'm not going to condemn them for it.

    *edit*

    juvenile, knee-jerk reaction removed - mordeth :D

Why do you think they were stealing it from him? If a friend of mine passed out and I knew he had something illegal on him, i'd take it and hide it before anyone official arrived. You said yourself they called the ambulance and then got whatever gear he had on him.

I really don't think they were hiding it to "protect him". They were robbing him, pure and simple. I agree with the original poster, junkies have no friends (which is very sad imo)

Well they are junkies and if they left it on him the guards would only take it, so what the hell would be the point for them to do that

Seems heroin does'nt destroy your sense of logic!!

I didn't say that was definitely what they were doing, or that there could be only one reason for taking it from him. But discounting it completely is the wrong attitude.

And saying that junkie's have no friends is a broad and untrue statement.

All this thread will do is expose peoples prujudices with regard to what are essentially ill people, you see it already.
Junkies do have friends and family and brothers and sisters, like most of you, although it is pretty obvious that some of you have no fathers from the replies already.
I hope you are never exposed to the horror of heroin addiction personally or with your family or friends.
Try not to make fun of sick people it is not very funny really.

This is true to an extent, heroin, or indeed addictions in general, have a tendency to overrule more base instincts such as companionship and friendship and as a junky you dont really have friends only people with a common need who find themselves often in the same places and situations with the same people persuing a common cause on the wrong side of the law, this is one of the reasons people find addiction so horrific.

PLease quantify this statement, how can you make such an assumption?

Too late I have, and the people I know who do needle drugs I dont socialise with, infact I stay as far away from them as possible - they arent sick - they are simply stupid

Well with several relatives having died already or suffering from various things - car crashes to cancer - humour does take the pain away.

However I will not in anyway feel pity or sadness for another needle injecting scumbag that dies. We as people have a choice - and before I get the "what about how they were brought up police" on my back - plenty of people I know have come from far rougher and sad circumstances - and most of them have never touched a damn needle in their lives (and that is nothing to do with intervention - it was all a matter of choice)

I feel sorry for thier families. But thats the extent of my sympathy.
They should all be given free heroin and made take it until they overdose and rid the world of thier wretched exsistence.

yeah, and all the ****, spicks and japs in Ireland should be shot, beaten and raped! that'll teach them for not being white!

Remember children, hatred is the only way forward, anyone who tries to tell you otherwise.. or tries to tell you about the virtues of rational thought, compassion and education.. they're lying to you. And they're probably communists.

    jackasses

    Two things:

    1. A tad melodramatic, even for you
    2. Who exactly are the jackasses you refer to?

:D I'm in a hurry to get reading the new discworl book, I don't have time to think about what I'm saying.
They should all be given free heroin and made take it until they overdose and rid the world of thier wretched exsistence.

as to the melodrama, and the relevance of the racism. I fail to see how comments and attitudes like this above are any different from comments and attitudes found at say, stormfront or any other gathering of the prejudiced masses. And i wanted to draw a little comparison between the two. Sadly, it's going to be lost on most people and I'm going to get -500 negative karma for using the N word.

will I get in trouble for saying spicks? .. only time will tell

    jackasses

Theres quite a big difference between black people, japanese, spanish (i assume spick is either spanish or jewish, i cant remember) and someone mugging innocent people with syringes full of HIV infected blood so they can score more drugs to stuff into thier abcess ridden body.
One group or people are normal everyday citizens, others are the walking dead scum of the earth. How you even came up with such a stupid comparison is beyond me.

yeah, every single heroin user in the country mugs people with infected needles. that's why it's such a HUGE epidemic, why I was mugged seven times this morning on the way to the shop to buy milk.

Only if you feel it is referring to you, any reason you would be personally insulted, it was directed at the likes of this ****e:

Junkies are already dead ,they just dont know it yet.

    And this ****e:

They should all be given free heroin and made take it until they overdose and rid the world of thier wretched exsistence.

I must have missed the part of the original post where that was described.

It's about as relevant as saying that all travellers steal or that all Jews are tight with money.

Ill assume that was sarcasm. Its obviously a bigger problem than you know, if i were you id ask around and find out just how many people you know that have been held up by these scum.
Well maye one day when a junkie DOES hold a syringe to your neck and threaten to 'give ya da voirus' unless you give him money, you wont be such a tree hugger.
A liberal is just a conservative that hasnt been mugged yet.

    lol

and a conservative is a scared child, too afraid to go out and try to do some good in the world so they talk online in angry tones about killing those who they feel have wronged them?

    nice

The government should just give them as much smack as they want. That way they won't be a threat to the rest of us, they would spend the remainder of their futile little lives blissed out in a corner somewhere. Hopefully that would kill them off before they could reproduce.

I don't care what substances anyone puts ito their body, that's their decision. As far as I'm concerned it only becomes a problem when they want to steal other people's money to do that.

This is pretty much the end of the film Adam and Paul. Id add a spoiler tag but if you go to see a film about two junkies and express shock at the at one point one of em nearly OD's you're thick.

    That has got to be one of the worst things I've ever heard, and y'know if they'd come back it wouldn't be;

"oh f*ck some poor fuc*king kid has got me gear"

    but more likely;

"c'mere and gissus me fu*king gear"

I just thought this story would make an interesting read, and shows, to me anyway, that junkies are only "friends" aslong as they get their fix in the end. I've seen the comical scene in a newsagents in inichore, which refused to sell tinfoil anymore, three junkies arguing the realitive merits of dairy milks ver kit kats vis a vie the nutrional value measured up againist the quality of their tinfoil wrappers.

To me, this morning was just a case of natural selection

Bit ****ing harsh there mate, there but for the grace of god goes many people, who've pulled through the other end.

We call them methadone clinic's. They go there to wean themselves onto another drug, which is free, thus no mugging. The objective is to get them to stop totally, but methadone itself is a drug that people get addicted to.

    =====

As for junkies, its not an illness, but they should be locked up somewhere. Why? So they'd dry out. And go from there.

Some try it for the "buzz", but mostly they do it as they don't feel "normal" without it.

Finally, if a junkie dies, sh|t happens. Those whom I despise are people who introduce their "friends" onto the stuff so they can make some money. The junkies are the end product. And there is no cure, except the want of a better life. Only with that desire will they ever come off the stuff. And as most ar already at the bottom of the barrel, thats not going to happen.

Wow an expert in our midst.

Have you personally been faced with this choice, or are you just talking out your arse?

Whoever left rep with the comment that having no father is not funny obviously finds slagging off dead junkies funny, strange person.

You have to make the distinction between good AIDS and bad AIDS.

I think Chris Morris did a sketch on that once. It was funny anyhow.

    *slightly paraphrased :).. i can't find the dvd* :)
