Help needed...DVD rom doesn't recognise any DVD's

    Strange problem here...

    All of a sudden my DVD rom..Mat$hita sr-8585
    has stopped recognising DVD's. I don't remember installing anything out of the ordinary since it stopped playing DVD's. It will still detect & run data CD's OK.
    I've checked the region in properties and the DVD is set for region 2.
    I'm running on XP pro & have checked for driver updates but to no avail.
    I also have a plextor DVD+RW drive which works fine with everything.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
