    Et voila!

When I joined the Ireland Offline mailing list I started using the IOFFL board as well in order to whinge about not having broadband. Now that I have broadband I never visit that board.

I've got what I want and that's all that counts.

    Just like me then.

The Charlatans had cancelled their gig at the point in Dec 2001 and I logged on to Phantoms chat board, to see if anyone wanted to talk.

    They didnt. :(
But I got over it. :)

Whilst adventuring in the Belgian Congo I stumbled across a very interesting device......... as I ran they were shooting at me using these little blow-pipes, which I found tremendously frightening....... completely soaked to the skin but at least I was still alive...... there were two of them hanging upside down inside my tent........ she was quite beautiful and half-naked..... I smiled naturally but that just seemed to anger the warlord further......... SNAKE!!!!......... a small furry rodent of some description had managed to burrow all the way up into my........ intestines of a pig boiled in some manner of sauce which I was forced to eat.......... several days of unpleasant regurgitation and incontinence....... I think Kharn mentioned boards to me first....... needless to say I was very, very drunk.

hmmm... September last year I was at a Radio Conference in Cork and someone was telling me about a documentary they saw on BBC4. I said that I could not receive BBC4 on my Sky Digital package and he told me that all the information on how to set it up was available on boards.ie. And indeed it was.

A guy in work gave me a copy of how to get the BBC channels on sky and the address was at the top of the page, so I decided to look it up.

    Here's the synopsis,

4 and half years ago (jesus that's a long time) I bought halflife, started playing, found an IGN server, found out about the then popular halflife board, and i've been here since.

Yeah same with me - I started reading all the after hours threads then. I'd gotton through 2 pages of "do you want to be a ninja?" when I new I'd be staying!

When I got set up with ADSL, a friend gave me a CD with all sorts of stuff on it to help get me into counter-strike (RogerWilco, IRC, etc) and I was told to sign up to boards.ie for the CS forum.
    So I did.

Still in my subbed list, though I don't read it; just there for the sake of old times :) .

I stumbled across boards when I was at Dundalk I.T. It was all the rage back then... I think most of the class was on the site all day. :D

Can't quite remember the reason i signed up though! I think it might have been something to do with xbox?

Asked a friend if he knew any decent Irish radio stations online and he sent me a link to PhantomFM, from whence a short step brought me here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

It used to come up on google a lot when I did searches on Irish web pages only but I never used to lurk or anything. I joined one day to ask a question about a college course and whilst waiting for a response, discovered many of the other forums.
