Have you seen those ads in todays (Sunday) papers showing that TV3 is the station that fullfills the televisual desires of the 15-45 age cohort?

They published stats in reply to this question-
"Which TV station best meeets your viewing needs and interests?"
    TV3 27%
    RTE1 20%
    UTV 8%
    NET2 5%

What struck me is the huge gap between TV3 and UTV given that one is a semi-clone of the other.

    Mike.

Same here, and I hate watching soccer on TV3.

    Packie Bonner, Frank Stapleton... Agh!

Any chance TV3 have to say how good they are they do.

ITV must be so happy with them.

Perhaps we should have a vote on boards.

Mike you missed your opportunity to have a poll on this.

Same here, TV3 hasn't been the same for me since Grainne Seoige left TV3 news, but at least she's on Sky News Ireland now.

TV3 are absolute crap, a movie on TV3 if you ever noticed, it takes about an hour longer than the actual Movie. I only noticed this recently when i taped a movie onto a blank vhs for a friend, he was insistent that i stop the recording during the ad breaks, so i did. At the end i had an hour and a half of movie after spending 2 hrs 20 mins Watching it and ad breaks. TV3 are quite frankly A DISASTER in broadcasting, all those ad breaks drive me ga ga. If my memory serves me right they ran ads during their 9/11 news coverage 3 years, as did RTE.
RTE should have no ads because we the public are paying a rip-off of a licence fee. Our british counterparts BBC has no ads i notice, despite they getting a licence fee too.

Well as RTE make a loss with TV liesence and Ads, I don't think we'll see them go anytime soon, they invest in DOG generators, though........

Again this argument crops up, and again I say UK population = 60 Million, Ireland 4 million.

    Do the math.

ya dmc but what you forget is that it cost the bbc much more to aquire progam rights because there is 60 million people in the uk. that is why rte is not free to air on sky because they would have to pay the same amount for full right.

But you dont see that many US imports and first runs on the BBC, so that arguement is flawed. They produce all their own shows in the evenings. Its been a while since a US programme was seen in prime-time BBC 1. So RTÉ is not FTA because it does rely on mostly US imports, PLUS getting some commerical advantage in showing them before the UK channels do.

hmmm UTV chance of seeing that Camp* guy or some ranting unionist.
TV3 chance of seeing the blonde fox they got in to replace Grainne.

    Case closed.

*Nothing against camp guys - just fat old camp guys, young pretty ones are ok.

The tv3 survey was probably done in non-cable areas.
Or the people who replied have nothing better to do than answer ridiculous
surveys. If I had only the Irish channels, any survey would be an event. :D
