When building a new PC recently I forgot to put Publisher back on it and am now left with the files but no way of opening them till I get the CD off my mate.

Any suggestions? Are there free trials I can download?

    Ta in advance

Difficult to do really. Even different versions of Microsoft Publisher has trouble opening files from each other.
Only thing i can think of is to use a program called PublisherRecovery this repairs corrupted Pub files and gives the opportunity to back them up in RTF i guess it'd only be the text that would be saved, not really sure.
Anyway i think theres a demo of that software around online.

    Cheers

There's always something you forget to switch over to a new PC isnt there?!

If anyone knows of any online 'demo' versions please PM, need it to tide me over for the weekend.

    Ta

A version Ive downloaded failed to work so I fear I might actually have to buy this today

Where's a good place in Dublin city centre to look for a piece of software I'll have to pry my wallet open with a crowbar for? Does it come on its own or just the full Office package?

    Cheers

    ;)

Not sure about where, but Froogle estimates the cost at about £135 (€200) for the 2003 version standalone.

just for the record. there is no publisher converter (without having publisher installed) on the market at the moment. Also microsoft does not have any trial edition of microsoft publisher available for download. The b*****ds know that you cannot use any other software to open their files. You can however order a 30 day trial edition cd from their site (https://microsoft.order-7.com/consumermosep/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=MSTrialandEval&category%5Fname=Evaluation+Kits&product%5Fid=099%2D91827&cookie%5Ftest=1). I dont know the legalities of searching dc++ or other file sharing programs and downloading the same trial edition publisher (if you can find it) for evaluation purposes. gud luk.

Simple answer - if some sends you a publisher document - FLAME them for using a non-standard file type which can only be opened by those who have a legit copy of publisher running on window.

pdfcreator - freeware app that will allow you to produce documents that can be read on most computers - if you can print a document pdfcreator will convert it to PDF

I managed to get creative with fonts in, of all things, Wordpad, and its doing the job I need. Mr Gates aint getting 200 euros off me for a product I barely use (but used to think was essential for one small part of my job - go figure!)

Has anyone tried to export publisher to HTML - by creating a web page ?
If so, was it editable in other HTML editors esp. Word ?
