    I have the option of buying this (F173A) 17" TFT for the rather decent price of €275 + VAT. The full spec is here in PDF form. Max res of 1280 x 1024, contrast of 500:1 (how bright is that anyway) and a response time of 25ms. The only thing I'd have reservations about is the response time, as I intend buying one of those shuttle cube things and use this monitor with. Of course the intention is to use the new setup for some games, wouldnt exactly be gaming 24/7 on it though...

    I know 25ms is pushing it a bit, but for a cheap tft I couldnt expect anymore. Buy this or keep looking?

    Nice price and looks nice too but the response time is a bit high for games. You will get ghosting on games (not chess games :D ). You can get TFT monitors with a response time of 12ms but they are more expensive :( . Wait till next year!

    Unless you need the room you should think about a 19" CRT monitor.

    You will get ghosting not only in games but in good quality movie rips or DVDs, apart from the high response time it looks good.
