easyJet has a announced a twice daily London/Gatwick - Cork and once daily Gatwick - Knock and Gatwick - Shannon flights from the 25th of January on. The Shannon flight will be upgraded to twice daily from the summer schedule.

    Full press release:

easyJet runs a lovely professional operation and these services seem worthy of support. A nice selection of other routes offered from Gatwick; connections on easyJet flights are a little less risky than on Ryanair with the (unofficial) policy to put you on the next available flight if you previous easyJet flight was delayed and you did allow 90 minutes between the two.

Expect bmibaby to pull its Gatwick - Cork flight soon (not that anyone knew it existed in the first place). It will also be interesting to see how Ryanair reacts bearing in mind it is a difficult slot controlled airport.

Excellent, hope they offer some routes from Dublin as well. We need someone to give Mr Ryanair a run for his money. He might offer cheap fares when there is competition but did you ever try booking a Ryanair Dublin to Liverpool flight where there is no competition? Total rip-off, Ryanair "low fares airline" my arse.

A return from Cork to Gatwick for just under €40, that's bloody good value! The only problem, is that Gatwick doesn't serve as many destinations as Stansted.

Has anyone got much experience with easyJet? I've got a flight booked with them from Copenhagen to Stansted.

Gatwick is excellent if you want to get into London or the south side of London area. For ex-pats working in those areas it will be very good. I have travelled extensively on Easyjet from Glasgow - Luton and once on the Liverpool - Barcelona route. My experience is of a good company with occassional mishaps. The good thing is they close the boarding 30 minutes before departure which has saved me a few times.

I've flown with them a few times from Belfast to Liverpool to see my beloved toffees... They have been very good for the vast majority of times ive flown....

I was delayed once for about 2 hours because of some weather trouble, but i guess you cant control the weather... :)

That's really great to hear....no more than flying to liverpool, it's hard to get a cheap knock-london flight with ryanair..I've always preferred to fly into gatwick compared to Stanstead as the mainline BR station is Victoria which is slap bang in town, unlike Liverpool st which is a bit 'off the beaten track'

Eight easyJet flights this summer, one problem: a 45 minutes delay when two aircraft went tech. at the same base on the same day. EasyJet still operated all scheduled flights from there (with some delays of course) bringing two spare UK-based aircraft, I'd never see Ryanair manage the same.

    Compare it to Aer Lingus:

    or Ryanair:

This is good news - I imagine Cork can provide the volume - the flights I was on last week were full. Booked for the first flight nyway - maybe Stelios will be on it.

I also notice that easy have a price promise if your flight can be got cheaper later on then you get credit - unless its a promotional offer..

for charter connections such as Air Transat and others to Canada LGW is a good connection point. Flew ORK-LGW once with BA on the Dash 8, had few complaints.
