Thinking of buying some software on Ebay.co.uk

Never used ebay before. Using a credit card are they safe?

AND will the software I get work (codes etc) ....or am I taking a huge chance?

Like everything on eBay, if you want to be really careful only buy off someone with loads of positive feedback, and make sure to ask any questions you have before you bid.

As for credit card, go to paypal.com and register your card. They'll make a small transaction on your card which you need to verify so it will take a few days before you see it with online banking, or the end of the month if you have to wait for a statement, so this is worth baring in mind as you can't just start buying straight away. After that, paypal is perfectly secure, though the person you buy from may not be. I've never had any problems with anyone on ebay.
The software should be legit, if not then the seller is selling pirate software and MS and company would probably crack down on them pretty quickly as they would be very tracable through paypal, so it'll probably be OK.

as has been said, make sure you check their feedback levels BEFORE you bid, and check that the feedback is from selling rather than buying if their feedback is below say 50 (I'd have a good look at anyone before buying off them if their rating was below that).

also if you have any questions about the item (always ask about shipping to Ireland, some will charge you more as they are usually UK based, and occasionally some won't ship here at all) BEFORE you bid, as you might win and find out it's not what you want, but it's too late to back out by then.
