Is it possible to get mixed bus and rail tickets from Iarnród Eireann and CIE? An example: could I get a return journey from Galway to Dublin departing on the train and returning on the bus?

Afaik you'd have to buy separate tickets, as the prices are substantially different. Sorry!

    That's what I thought. Tis a pity.

Do you think the two companies would ever join forces that way? It would make Irish public transport far more flexible for consumers.

Im gonna have to say no, but u can get combined DART/commuter trains/dublin bus tickets that are valid in greater dublin area (ie balbriggan to greystones and as far west as maynooth or celbridge) its €100 for adult or €70 for student per month, also combined LUAS/bus tickets (dunno prices for these) if this info is of any use to u.

Dunno bout other tickets 4 country folk, but im sure theres specials on bus eireann/irsh rail combos out there if u look on the websites

Ouside commutter tickets, it's essentially down to season tickets if you want the flexibility.

    Train tickets
Newbridge to City Centre inc bus is 42.50 p.w.

Newbridge to Blackrock inc bus is 44.50 p.w.

a weekly DART ticket from Tara to Blackrock would cost a hell of a lot more than 2 euro
