Girlfriend is thinking of going for a substitute teaching role in a primary school in dublin while she waits to apply to do the h-dip. she's been working for the last year or so as a full time Special Needs Assistant in a school. While the teaching position would be more benefitial when applying for the h-dip theres also the question of pay to consider. Her pay as an SNA is pretty ****e, actually no, its completely ****e so I've been trying to find out what the average wages are for substitute teachers are and how much more\less she would earn considering as a sub she wouldnt get paid for school holidays? I've been googling but cant find any info.

Not sure if its the same for the rest of the country but a mate of mine was doing some sub work this month and he was on about 38 euro a class.Good enough but he was still only doing about 2 or 3 classes a day at best.

That sounds like Seconary School Substitution as opposed to Primary School.

yeah that seems like secondry alright. after a bit more googling i found the following:
    Effective from 1 Jan 2004 Trained:€165.57 Untrained:€90.99 per day

    found it on http://www.education.ie/servlet/blobservlet/pay05_04.doc

Is this standardised or can it vary from school to school?
