Although we live in UK, we travel back and forth to Dublin a lot. We will be in Dublin for my 15 year old daughter's next birthday. Thought it would be nice to bring her out for a nice meal somewhere in the city centre. We have had lots of very indifferent meals at top notch prices in the past. Any suggestions for a good meal at a half way reasonable price???

Seeing as your daughter is with you will this restrict you in anyway, re: the type of food etc?

I imagine there are quite a few places in Temple Bar that would suit, although if it's at the weekend, for a 15 year old I'd make sure it ended early in the night, before things got "out of hand".

Indeed Victor. Hard Rock and Thunderroad Cafe opposite each other. Elephant and Castle is noisy but good (try the buffalo wings :)) The Bad Ass Cafe for the novelty message system near the Central Bank. Fitzers for more up-market. All in Temple Bar.

If you eat around Stephen's Green you'll get more expensive food but it is good.

That makes a big difference. All those templebar places are fine too. You could also try gotham on south anne street or independent pizza on lower drumcondra road. Both are owned by the same company and serve pretty much the same food: excellent pizza and other good italian. They are pretty reasonable too.

for the best pizza in dublin try ciao bella roma on parliment street , and if you get there before 6 its ridiculously cheap too: bruschetta , big pizza & glass of wine €8.50 how do they do it?

All the above mentioned places in temple bar would be fine. Thunder Road Cafe would probably be the best to bring a kid to as they'd probably prefer the menu.. burgers, ribs etc.. depends really. Dont go too late though as it does turn into a stag/hen party honey pot..

Stay away from Little Ceasars... Over-hyped crap if you dont mind me saying...

Cafe Bar Deli on georges st is very reasonable and its good food. Italian pizza and pasta mainly. Around €11 -> €15 for a main course. Has never dissapointed yet.

Wagamama underneat st.stephens green shopping centre is good as well. similar price to Cafe Bar Deli for main courses. Its an asian noodle type of place. Very nice food.

    Enjoy...

Shanahans on St Stephens Green does good steak but it is very pricey. i'd go for Da Vincenzo's on Leeson St for a fantastic italian or there is a really nice mexican (cant remember its name) opposite the George on George's St...

But my reccomendation would be Peploes (+353-1-6763144) on St Stephens Green....it is the "in" place at the moment and is very well run with fantastic food.

Don't Thunderroad dance on the tables or something if it's your birthday? :)

I wouldn't go to most of the restuarants in temple bar to be honest.
Go to Chapter One on Parnell Square. It's pure class, excellent food, brilliant service. Booking will be necessary. If she's 15 yr old she'll enjoy it - a good menu and always interesting specials. They do a good pre-theatre deal as well if you want to do a show or something with it.
