SCUZZ vs KERRANG and MTV2

I think as far as it goes Scuzz is by far the best of the three rock/metal channels. Kerrang always seem to play the same stuff every week, I have yet to see Rob Zombie, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Sonic Youth I could go on for ages with it. Then you have MTV2 it has its ups and downs with stuff like The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and ****e like that and they are really nerdy looking as well LOL thats the down side, but then on the up side you have HeadBangers Ball (oh the memories) Jackass and that VS thing they have like Nirvana VS Pearl Jam thats cool. Then we have Scuzz there is nearly always somthing good on that they play most of the bands we know and love, but hey everyone has there own opinin :)

The Amp and Scuzz used to be nice (and better) alternatives to MTV2 and Kerrang respectively, but since they fit in schedueles and all these different themed hour blocks the quality waned fast to the point of unwatchable (moreso The Amp).

Kerrang has and is still possibly the worst rock music-centered channel on the digital TV (that should be understandable to most people).

MTV2 is now a TV equivelant of NME and still acts pretencious most of the time. I'm not too happy about their use of themed hour crap aswell (ie. Nirvana vs. Pearl Jam) but it's the music channel I'm most likely going to watch for the occasional new video unfortunetly. Kudos for 120 Minutes though, best programme on any of these rock music channels.

None of these channels are that great though, the one that was best at what it was doing was the punk rock channel p-rock, which unfortunetly disappeared one day a few months ago.

i think theyre all fairly poor although OCCASSIONALLY scuzz can have a good song or two

Kerrang seems very childish / pre-teeny to me. (Remember "Trash Idol"?)

MTV2's my favourite. 120 Minutes = best music show on TV (now that Jools is on a break). Pity Gonzo is gone away for a while, too.

The Amp, Scuzz and Flaunt had been run by Sky themselves up until a few days ago. Sky handed over the running of those channels to Chart Show TV, you might have noticed the slightly worse looking "The Amp" logo over the past few days...

I agree- they're all crap. But death by decibels on scuzz wasn't bad. It was on at midnight though :( . But nevermind the video channels.... Don't get me started on Irish radio stations........jeez

Dude you took the words right out of my mouth, the radio stations in Ireland suck 2fm is the greatest load of **** until 12.00 oclock at night then Dan plays some rock music but its too late at night and as for the rest of the stations  <
that yellow guy says it all lol. What is it with people and pop music it alway ends up been forgot about cos its crap like boy bands e.g New kids on the Block if you were to listen to them now you would say to your self jaysus what the **** was I listen to back then, then with your rock and Metal no one seems to forget it. Irish radio is bolox. And whats the deal with BUSTED and McFly they suck and there a bunch of in bred hicks.

Scuzz is the best out of all of them. Simply because of Death by Decibels.

I used to like MTV2 a few years ago because it used to be so random, metal one minute, country the next and then some mad electronica. Don't have digital anymore and don't miss it.

God, there hasn't been a good song on kerrang in months. Death by decibels on scuzz is great, and headbangers ball, but thats about it. music tv sucks!

Exactly!! My god, I remember when MTV2 was actually a decent channel, that played a whole range of music, all the time. Then, as more and more people got sky digital, it just went downhill. Don't watch it anymore, all that would be on is ****e like The Libertines and The Strokes (some of the worst rock bands around at the moment imo).

    they all suck equally.

although scuzz showed linea77 and lacuna coil but i missed them both. They also show some used.

Mtv2 on other hand show good bit of placebo.

kerrang is a bollox on a loop.

Yeah, Kerrang is generally ****e, MTV2 is ****e except for the odd preprogrammed time, and Scuzz is marginally better. Tune in randomly though to any of them and you'll more than likely just hear the rasmus.....

As for radio, anyone in/near Northern Ireland is strongly advised to buy a Digital Radio and tune in to BBC Radio 6, it's the BBCs alt. music channel and it's about 1/3rd good rock. You can also listen in from their website, and playback the best shows of the last week, particularly the Bruce Dickinson Rock Show and Val's daily shows...

anyone in the cork city area could probably pick up freak fm currently broadcasting on 105.2 (i think) probably a bit closer to peoples musical tastes*

*i have nothing to do with this station. only letting people know it exists

Mtv2 on other hand show good bit of placebo.

The only Placebo videos I have seen on MTV2 are new releases (infrequently), or, once in a blue moon, "Every You Every Me" or "Nancy Boy". What about all the other (classics)?

DO you have the frequency for RockTV? I don't have it on my channel list. :(

Out of the few on Sky digital, I would usually watch Scuzz, MTV2 and sometimes VH2.

Kerrang was OK when it first lauched with live sets of Rammstein, etc but now it's as commercialised as the rest of EMAP's channels. :(

Do MTV2 still do the hours picked by a viewer or an artist? That was great, I remember Casey Chaos from Amen picking some absolutely amazing choices, the only time I've got to see Black Flag and the Birthday Party on tv.

Scuzz is the best of that lot.... Good mix of old and new rock/metal. Seen eminem on kerrang...nuff said

Scuzz plays some good stuff. I recall a few best of bits showing a solid stream of Iron Maiden and AC/DC vids for an hour or so. Also, Whitesnake :) . It rocks at least 64% more than other channels.

Still, that's not saying much. I'd agree with the good Mr. Hungus.

Heh. Chaos also contributed a rather nice version of 'Depression' to the Black Flag tribute album.

MTV2's definately the best out of that lot. Kerrang has such a **** range with about 10 videos playing on loop. Scuzz isn't a whole lot better; some of their music documentaries can be a bit interesting. Anyone else miss P-Rock from around 1 1/2 or 2 years ago? Apparently they couldn't get enough advertising revenue and had to quit. Shame.
