This could have something to do with the temperature sensor on the card giving higher then normal readings, but im not entirely sure. What were the temps before you flashed the BIOS ?

I also flashed my 9800ro to XT and have an Arctic VGA Silencer. It idles about 45C. The highest it has reached was 65 while running Doom3 with everything at high. It turns out there was a fair bit of fluff in the grille at the fan end, so I cleaned it out and it stayed around 63 after that.

What's the air movement through your case like? I know the Arctic should push the heat from the card out of the case, but if the air in the case is warm to begin with...

Make sure you have intake and outtake fans. That way you have a constant flow of air through the case, it can dramatically effect temps. The intake should be at the front bottom and the outtake at the rear top of the case. If you can't do that try and running your PC with the side off and see what effect it has on the temps.

How are you's checking the temp?
I cant see a temp reading anywhere have a sapphire 9800 pro (flashed to xt) 128mb. Does my card not have the temp diode then? Can mbm distplayit if it has one.
I'd like to know what temp it runs at with the arctic cooler on.

As long as your not getting artifacts your fine. Don't worry about it. They can withstand high temps.

how is your airflow? if you airflow not great then your hot air wont get out as quick, making your temp goes higher!

    1 case fan 120mm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

You really need to get another one. With 120mm fans you want at least 1 intake at the bottom and 1 exhaust at the top.
