    Ok, im finding that my C:/ partition is clogging up and startups and shutdowns are lagging, so , what good programs or what things should be done with regards keeping the C:/ in shape? Even things like defraging, and normal windows tool.

    first delete/remove all of all the stuff you dont want

    run adware or spy bot

    run "system mechanic" (you can find it through google) clean reg and delete temp files ect

    scan disc then defrag.

    Do all this once every 3 months

    using 2k, AMD 2500

    havent reinstalled in over a year and from powered off to running a application in roughly 60 seconds

    Use the info here to shut down some services and programs starting up not required.

    http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

    They will speed up your PC, making it run more efficiently.

    if you want to tune up your system set your page file to a fixed size (1 and a half times your memory size) to a different drive, not a partition on the same drive, that will help your system performance, better yet if you have the money, set up 2 raid 0, run the first set for your system and the other for whatever you want, you;ll see the different of anything loading up or shutting down!
